Basic werewolf facts

Alpha Male- is the leader of the pack. He help provide for them and take care of them. Without him the pack would fall apart.

Alpha female (Luna)-is also the leader. She is considered the mother of the pack because she nurtures them.

-The alpha pair both lead the pack as one and without one of them the pack will separate.

Beta- is the second in command after the Luna. They take care and lead the pack when the Alpha pair is not around. They will not feel comfortable leading the pack without the Alpha pair’s knowledge. They are mostly in charge of train and supervising the pack. They also help make decisions with the alpha pairs help.

-     Can be male or female but most of the time it is a male.

Gamma- is the third in command. They to help take care of the pack but are more relaxed that the alpha or beta. They are mostly there for support.

-     Can be man or female

Omega- Is the lowest ranking wolf in the pack. They defuse fights and provide comic relief.

-     They are very playful by nature

-     Can be male and female.

Lone wolves (rouges)- they do not have a pack and mostly are wolves that have lost their mates. They are considered very dangerous and crazy. A pack wolf will have a hard time except them if they become part of the pack. Some of them are what they are because of bad circumstances or they are trying to find their mate. They rarely howl or leave a sent on purpose because they don’t want to get caught on a packs land.

Protect/warriors- they are wolves that do most of the fighting. They are also the main protection for the pack because they have a strong urge to protect and are chosen because of it to protect the pack.

-A wolf’s first shift is at the age of 16

-At the age of 17 they can find their mate.

-wolves mate for life and if anything happens to their mate they go crazy or die

-less than 10% will continue living without going crazy. (Mostly because they have children to look after.)

-After finding their mate the female will go into heat after two weeks.

-marked or not

-wolves mark each other to show their love and acceptance for each other. The mark will also show unmated males they have a mate.

-after being marked the mates will be able to feel each other’s feelings and be able to tell if the other one is in trouble.

-it will also allow them to develop a private mind link.

-After being marked the mates will have a week to finish the mating process or it will cause extreme pain.

-Mating will cause the males scent to be different.

-Pregnancies will also cause the scent of the female to be different.

-Mating while in heat will always cause pregnancy.

-Wolf gestation lasts 126 days (4.5 months)

-All members of the pack help to take care of the young

-the young is treated with affection by all

-Mother’s consider the Luna taking care of the young a great honor.

-Wolves live in packs because in a pack they take care of each other

- Some would sacrifice themselves for a pack member

-Wolves groom each other to reinforce the social bonds that tie them together

-Reciprocal grooming is done in courtship

-Injured wolves are intensely groomed by the pack providing both physical and mental comfort.

-Wolves do not howl at the same time they go through rank if done so it is a sign of disrespect.

-Dominant wolves hold their head and tails high

-Subservient wolves hold their head and tails low.

-Subservient wolf will never look a dominant wolf straight in the eye because if they do it is considered as a challenge to the dominant wolf

-Subservient wolves greet dominant ones by licking or nipping its muzzle this is called active submission

-If a subservient wolf is lying on the ground exposing its belly to another wolf it is called passive submission.

-They are shown respect and submission

-Allowing them to kill them if the other wolf wants

-Wolves consume twenty pounds of food a day

-Used for energy for shifting healing and running

Wolves have two types of hair

-Guard- which repels moisture

-Under coat- which keeps them warm

-As a harsh punishment some wolves will have all their undercoat cut/brushed out and told to stay in wolf form for a long period of time in the cold

-Wolves can hear 6 miles if in the forest and 10 miles in the plains

-Wolves have different scents much like figure prints

-Help track pray. Other pack members or enemies

-Can tell them what sex they are and how long ago they were there

Wolves love to play by

-Shouldering on another

-Bumping each other

-Flopping tails over each other

-Pouncing

All of this helps develop strength and hunting skills

Wolves walk, trot. Lope or gallop

-They can go 60 miles in a day

-Alphas can go 120

-Males are usually larger than females by as much as 25%

-Average male wolf weighs up to 200 pounds and is about 4 feet tall

-A wolf has 42 teeth

-When eating after hunting wolves eat by rank

-Wolves live for 100’s of years because their body heals very fast and is kept in very good condition

Wolves are very hard to kill
