I woke up early the next morning with a million concerns. My gun was stowed away safely where Hunter wouldn't find it, and I quickly got dressed into jeans, a white sheer tank top, and a navy blue blazer. I added my gold jewelry and straightened the wig in place, making sure not a single dark brown hair was showing.
I made my way out of the hallway, and tried to navigate my way through to the kitchen. This house was the size of three mansions put together, and finding the kitchen was not an easy task. Instead, I stumbled upon Hunter's office.
I gently knocked and waited for the door to be opened. I waited patiently, but suddenly felt a warm breath travel down my neck. "Looking for me?" His voice was extremely deep and raspy in the morning, adding a sexiness I tried to quickly forget.
"Y-yes, I was wondering where the kitchen was. I was hoping to make breakfast. Would you like me to make you something?"
I immediately realized that the smug little smirk was a permanent look considering this was the third he had given me this morning. "Are you always this annoyingly kind?"
I tilted my head as he stopped in front of a beautiful kitchen. He took a seat on a bar stool in front of a large white granite counter top. I began to dig through the fridge for food.
"No one's ever called me 'annoyingly kind' before, but I suppose I'm not one to start conflict. What do you usually eat for breakfast?"
"You're going to get extremely annoying. You should know I like black coffee every morning, and whenever I want food, I will use the intercom system set up through the house. And you should hurry up because today is going to be rather busy."
He was snippy and I was almost positive he would end up being like every other gang leader I had met: cold-hearted, easily pissed, and a jackass 99% of the time. I smiled and nodded while pouring him a cup of coffee. I made myself a cup of peppermint tea and followed behind him to his office.
His desk was covered in papers, and to say I was excited was an understatement. Secrets, deals, bank accounts; all of it was dispersed over the desk. "How do you find anything with all of these papers?"
"I find everything I need to." He snapped as he sat down in a large black leather chair. His office was almost all black, and very little light came through.
"O-okay, well, where would you like me to start?" Hunter picked up a folder full of papers and stood up straight directly in front of me. I took a hesitant step back, he was too close.
"If you even for a second think about using this information against me, I won't blink before killing you. Do we have an understanding?"
I was shocked he even trusted me being inside his house, let alone with such important documents. I myself had fought with Garret for twelve days before he let me look at the accounts during a deal with Australia. I nodded my head letting Hunter know that I fully understood, and took the manila folder over to the couch.
I spread out spread sheet after spread sheet full of numbers. I quickly scanned the papers, realizing very quickly this was a list tracking drug deals. I scanned down the list until a name popped out at me.
I turned to see Hunter was completely focused on some sheet he was reading, his eyebrows furrowed and small creases formed on his forehead while he bit harshly on his lip. I mumbled quietly to myself. "David Worth?"
Worth was an avid seller on Trepidation soil, so I was extremely confused as to why he was on this list too. "Umm, Hunter, how would you like me to organize these exactly?"
He groaned loudly and motioned for me to go over to his desk. I walked over slowly, but that apparently only made him madder. He shoved his chair back, and walked over to me. His hand wrapped around my wrist as he led me in front of his desk. He held out his other hand which I placed the folder in.
Hunter opened a desk drawer and revealed an all-white laptop and placed it in my arms. "Type up everything on that sheet and save it to the proper file, Katherine. I don't care where you work, as long as it's nowhere near my bedroom. I have meetings all day, so I will be home later tonight. Also, just know that I will be locking the office door, and if you so much as try to escape, then I will kill you before you get four feet off the property. Understood?"
"O-of course, it will be done by the time you get home." He smirked (real shocker there) and pushed me out of his office. Twenty minutes later he was climbing into an all-black Porsche, leaving me to work alone in the mansion of a house.
I wandered around the house to better familiarize myself with everything before turning on the stereo to get to work. I plugged my phone in and let my Spotify playlist shake the house. I was typing furiously on the computer singing along to "Focus" by Arianna Grande when the front door slammed. I turned my attention to see a very pissed off Hunter walking through the door.
"Hunter, are you okay?"
"I'm fine." He barked as he walked into the kitchen and returned with a beer. "My meetings just didn't go as I had planned. Now I'm going to have to drag you around with me."
"Oh, where are we going?" I couldn't even pretend to be scared because I was too excited. There is something thrilling about being surrounded by the enemy and them never knowing who you really are!
"We have to go to Jared's so that we can finish some things up. We need to leave in an hour, so be ready."
