(Yn) POV
"You idiot! I'm sorry that I am still learning how to control myself! Doesn't mean that you have to be a jerk about it!" I shout at Naru
"Well I understand that. While you are staying away from cases you will be working with Hoshou back at my office" he says dryly
"You're a jerk! You know that?" I shout at him
"I am aware" he says, turning on his heel and walking back towards the house
He has Hoshou drive me back to Naru's office where Hoshou is apparently going to help me grasp my "abilities" or whatever.
We get to the office and he immediately grabs bags of ice and holds them against my bare arms
"AGHH ARE YOU TRYING TO KILL ME?!" I shout
"No, but is that similar to the cold of a spirit?" He asks
"Yeah, pretty much" I admit
"Then you're going to have to get used to it" he says, grabbing my one hand and moving it to hold the ice against my arm
"BUT MY ARM WILL GO NUMB" I say worriedly
"Only after quite a while, and if it starts to annoy you I can't just turn the AC as cold as it goes" he offers
"Sure, why don't you do that" I say sarcastically "just freeze me to death, every girls dream"
"When will you understand" he says in a face palm tone "YOUR BODY IS NOT AS EFFECTED BY THE COLD BECAUSE YOU ARE MADE TO WITHSTAND IT" he says
"Oh...I'm dumb" I say
"Seriously" he mutters under his breath
He then walks to the AC unit and turns it all the way down which is apparently -32 degrees Celsius. Dang that is going to be cold when it kicks in I think.
The AC kicks in at full blast after about twenty minutes and I start shivering from how it feels exactly like a spirit or whatever they are.
"Ok, now stay calm at this temperature and then maybe we can work on your reaction to actually seeing spirits" Hoshou says
"Fine"
A few minutes pass before he finds a way to help me with seeing spirits. He basically just says to think of them as lost people, and once they're too lost they become violent. If they are violent I am to just reason with them if it turns out I can communicate with them too. But basically I have to get into a mental state to stay calm and ish.
Time skippy
At the end of the week Naru says I am ready to get back to helping with cases. They finished the one with the family so I can go on the next one.
'Nother time skippy
It is now Monday and we finally have another case.
I run over to Lin's computer and read it off.
"Blood stained labyrinth" I announce "some kids were pulling pranks in this abandoned building and they never returned, no one has ever lived to explain the building, but it is apparently like a maze because it is so big and well, yeah no one returns"
"Interesting, are you ready?" Naru asks me
"HECK YES" I shout
We get to the building and bring the tools we will need inside. I find a dark corner and sit down.
"What are you doing?" Mai asks me
"Your mom" I respond sarcastically
"Shut up" she says "be serious, or are you too nervous?" She asks, remembering that when I get nervous I make dumb come backs
"Uh, w-what no, I'm n-not nervous, why w-would I b-be n-nervous?" I stutter
Mai bursts out laughing "you are soo nervous and it's so cute" she says through laughs
"Shut up" I say, shaking my head
"So cuteeeee" she says
"You are fairly cute" Naru says from behind me
"You wanna fight?" I say, standing up
"I don't fight amateurs" he says cockily
"OH SO IM THE AMATEUR?!" I shout, making myself laugh a little
"Yup" he says, ruffling my hair
We then get to exploring the building, I go off with Naru and Mai and the others go other ways with their groups.
We find a small room in the middle of another room, if that makes any sense. I decide to be the one to open it so I walk up and open the tiny door to reveal a flight of stairs. I immediately start down the stairs where the cold immediately starts.
"I-it's cold" I whisper back to Naru
"Okay, tell us if you see anything" he says
We walk down to a basement like room that can't possibly be a basement because...well...its a hallway. It is a really long hallway, though. I can barely see to the other wall and the doors all around me are, well, doors. I decide to gently open the first one on the right, Naru goes to the first one on the left and Mai stands behind me.
The door opens to reveal a room with a bloodied gurney in the middle and cuffs along the sides of the gurney. I feel a scream building in my throat. I clap my hand quickly over my mouth and turn to Naru who is still staring into the room behind his door. I walk over and notice it is empty except for blood stains all over the floor. I point him to our door and when he looks in he turns to me and tells me to be careful as we move down the hall.
"Can't we turn back?" I ask
"Fine, it is getting late" he says
"Hey, uh, (Yn)? I just had a vision" Mai says
"Naru" I whisper up to him and he stops and we gather around Mai
"Long, pure white legs, covered in blood, and drops of blood coming from above the legs, too" she explains
"Let's get out, get out now" Naru says
"Why so rushed?" Mai asked him
"Because, if you had a vision of that now, that means he is probably in one of these rooms and we can't lose anyone" Naru explains
We all walk back up the stairs and down to the rooms we are staying in.
