Eva's POV:

My eye stung with fresh tears as I waited at the airport for 2 fifths of One direction. I was nervous and I knew I shouldn't have been. We were best friends before, but that was a long time ago.
When they walked out the gates I greeted them awkwardly and hugged them each briefly.

"Nice to see you guys again." I stated. They nodded their heads and said like-wise. They retrieved their few bags and we walked out to my car. We made small talk about stuff that was going on in our lives; it was not at all like it was before.

"So do you have anybody special in your life?" Harry asked while wiggling his eyebrows. I looked down as the heat rose to my cheeks.

"You could say so..."I answered vaguely thinking of him, Kyle.

"What do you mean, answer him with a yes or no." Niall added with smirk.
"Ok yes then." I responded ending the conversation. When we arrived at their hotel I told them I would pick them up the day of the operation and we could straighten things out about the money then. That was in two days.
I was about to leave when Harry stopped me.

"Even though we haven't been in touch, we used to best friends, we still are. You don't have to act like we don't know each other, we love you. So you should come by tomorrow morning, we'll hang out, OK?"
I smiled and replied,

"Yeah, sounds good." Before hugging them each and heading home.
I pried the door to my apartment open and crashed on the bed me and Kyle shared.
I woke up around the same time Kyle was walking in. It was six, and he was still in his uniform.

"Have you been working this whole time?" I asked groggily.

"Yeah and I'm exhausted!" he managed. “Construction work is really tiring.
I've gotta work long to pay the bills, and your receptionist job doesn't help to much either." He murmured. He brought his face close to mine and pulled me into a soft loving kiss.
"But it's all worth it because I'm here with the one I love." He whispered. I smiled weakly. Love it's a strong word. I wanted to say it back but in the back of my mind I was thinking about Louis. But he's gone. 3 and a half years gone.

"I'll be home soon, I'm going to hang out with some old friends." I muttered before slipping out of bed.

Niall's POV:

Kaden was still dating Veronica, and he was there in the waiting room. He hadn't spoken a word to me; he just sat there with his red eyes. I felt sorry for him; I know he must love Veronica.
Eva had her head rested on my shoulder as Harry straightened out the expenses with the doctor.

"They're going to be operating in a couple minutes." Harry informed us when he returned. But I had a feeling nobody was paying attention but me. Eva had her eyes locked on her fingernails and Kaden hadn't looked up from the ground since he arrived.
Hours of waiting passed and Eva had fallen asleep. Harry was restlessly pacing the room and eating snacks from the vending machine, I just sat quietly waiting.
By the time the doctor came out with the news, Eva was awake. We all stood up to hear what the doctor had to say.
His mouth moved but I didn't hear his words, I just saw Harry's blank expression that he always has when he's sad and Kaden stumbling back and running out of the hospital. As for Eva, she just crumbled in my arms and I held her up. I knew then what he must have said.

Harry's POV:

Arabela's dead, Arabela's dead. Those are the words that kept running through my mind. Veronica's not going to make it. She's just as good as dead.
I shook my head trying to stop those thought from crossing my mind but it was almost impossible, so I focused on driving.
I continued to visit Eva to try to see her but her boyfriend always answers the door and says she can't see anybody, but I had to try before we left for the U.K that night.
I knocked a short knock half expecting no one to answer. The door opened and I saw Kyle's face.

"Look man, she's not in-"

"Kyle, he can come in." I heard Eva's soft fragile voice say. I cautiously entered to see Eva bundled in a blanket on the couch. She had new bags under her emerald eyes.

"Eva!" I said before kneeling down beside her.

"What's going on? You look... almost sick." I questioned. She sniffled.

"It's just Cancer but don't worry about it." She stated eyes closed. My head was spinning. Why was everybody getting hurt or sick?

"What? Are you...no." I stuttered. She laughed a small laugh.

"It's ok, I'm fine. I'll just be going somewhere...better..."she whispered weakly. I tried to hide the horror from my face.

"How long have you had it? What kind of cancer?"

"5 months and it was breast cancer but it recently spread to my brain." She replied softly.

"Your hair..."

"It's a wig." She added with a smile.

"I can't leave now that I know this! If there's anything-"

"I'll be fine, Harry. Thank you." She interrupted kissing me on the cheek.
"Arabela kept this journal and I'm sure you're written all over it, you should have it." She handed me a little blue notebook. I looked at it and tried to stop the tears that were threatening to fall.

"Tell Louis I love him."

"I love you Eva! You're an amazing friend but I have to leave now." I whispered before hugging her one last time and leaving for England. She died later that night.
