Drake slowly opened his eyes, his head aching.
"What happened?" He asked.
"You passed out, so I brought you back home." Eriol responded. "Your conditions have gotten worse."
"I can tell, thanks." Drake muttered, sitting up.
"I checked back with the king." Eriol looked away.
"And.... ?" Drake glanced over at the enderman.
"He... he says there's no way to reverse the effects."
"I could probably have guessed that...." Drake sighed. "And I've made my decision. I'll visit, but, I'm perfectly okay with not being a royal. I don't know if I'm up for the challenge... Like... ever.."
"Yeah, about that..." Eriol looked sadly at the hybrid. "I checked with the medical endermen, and they told me.... if you were to be around your friend... it would be a danger to him.... and there are some side effects of the transformation."
"Like what?" Drake's eyes widened. "And why am I a danger?"
"Well, first off, your enderman instincts will start to return, meaning you will react in hostility to anyone who looks at you. And being a mage... that's twice as bad for Grayson."
Drake nodded, his head starting to get light.
"And... well... endermen live for a while.... if it's true that all your memories of being an enderman come back, then.... it may cause you to lose some of your recent memories..."
"How... how many of my recent memories?"
"About.... thirty years worth."
"WHAT?!!??!?!" Drake screamed, leaping out of the bed. "But that means.... That means...."
"Sire-" But Eriol was interrupted.
"That means I'll forget.... I'll forget... Grayson... and... and Armen... and Mia...." Drake whispered. "And... all the adventures we've had... I'll become nothing!"
And he started to twitch.
"You'd... better leave... now..." Drake gritted his teeth, tears starting to stream down, making him shake even more violently.
Eriol teleported away, just as Drake let out an earsplitting screech that could probably be heard from miles away.
"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
When Eriol returned a few minutes later, the house was in shreds, and Drake was cuddled up in the center of the floor, a thin piece of fabric covering him. He was shivering, and small whimpers and sobs escaped his lips.
"Wh... what did I do to deserve this?"
But in his heart, he already knew. He had failed many people. Now it was his turn to pay.
"Oh my lord, I wish I could just make all the pain go away..." Eriol murmured, pulling Drake close to him.

Grayson walked through the woods contemplating what the earlier conversation with Drake had brought up.
Drake would never leave me.... He assured himself. He's not the type of person who wants power. He can visit his father, and still stay with me.... I'm sure that's what he'll decide.
And then Eriol appeared beside him.
"Grayson?" The enderman asked, his face looking pained.
"What happened to Drake?" Grayson immediately translated.
"Just.... come with me. It would be easier for Drake to explain to you."
They reached the mage's home, only to find two other figures holding Drake gently.
Drake was panting and on his knees.
"Lord Xavier and Lord Fae!" Eriol exclaimed, and quickly knelt.
Grayson considered for a moment before hesitantly doing the same.
"Rise you two, we don't have a lot of time." Queen Fae nodded to the pair. "Drake doesn't have a lot of time."
"But my queen..." Eriol protested. "Maiara said that he had at least another week!"
"Yes, but the last few stages of transformation are... extremely painful. Drake will not be in control of his actions for most of it, and would have to be isolated from everyone."
"Wait... Wait. What are you guys talking about?!" Grayson demanded. "What have you not told me?"
"Drake is slowly becoming an enderman, Grayson." King Xavier said calmly. "And once the transformation is complete..."
"He will no longer remember who you are."
Well.... That was depressing.... I'm gonna go cry in a corner now and punish myself. ~Dream
