They explained it to Grayson...

They explained it all.

And now, the tears fell.

Now, Grayson officially broke.

But instead of asking.

So I'll never see him again?

He asked;

"Is Drake going to be okay?"

"He should be." The King answered gently. "But... well... me and my wife have been thinking..."

"Yes?" Grayson trembled.

"And we are so sorry Grayson, we just want to tell you that. It was our fault. We were the ones that gave him the potion. We had no idea it would have side effects like this... we just wanted to help our son!"

A bunch of emotions exploded in Grayson's chest, too many, it was unreal he could contain them all.

Loathing, Anger, Sadness, Confusion, Despair were only a few of them.

But he kept them down, and managed to say.

"Don't apologize to me..." He started. "Drake knew what he was doing when he drank that potion. It was his decision alone that put him in this situation, and now he's facing the consequences... Don't blame yourselves for his actions.... That would make him feel worse."

The king and the queen, who had been bracing themselves, glanced at each other in surprise. And then they smiled at Grayson.

"Thank you." The queen murmured. "I can see the selflessness in your heart. You're a good person, Grayson. You deserved better than what the Empire gave you."

Grayson just nodded, and stared into Drake's eyes, which were coming back into focus.

"Grayson." He groaned. "I should have listened to you.... I'm.... sorry..."

"Stop apologizing to me, Drake." Grayson help his friend by the shoulders.

"No... really..." Drake looked as if each word he said tripled the pain. "I've been so self centered the past few days that we've actually been together. And now... I'm going to pay for my actions. Thank you, Grayson, for being there. And yes, I will apologize to you, for being a terrible friend."

"You were not a terrible friend Drake, I was. I blamed you for Mia leaving, ran off in a huff, tried to control you, stuck my nose in places I shouldn't have-" He stopped. "What's going to become of us Drake?" He whispered. "What's going to become of you?"

"He has to make a decision." The king said gently. "He can stay with you for a week more, Grayson, but you'd be putting yourself in danger, and Drake would be in great pain. Or, we can complete the transformation now, which would save Drake the pain, and you the risk. But you would have a few more days with your friend."

"That's not an option." Drake said firmly. "I am not putting Grayson in danger. Not again...  after.... our old house.."

Grayson remembered that day, when Herobrine took over and forced Drake to almost kill him.

"Just let me... say... goodbye." Drake rasped. "Alone."

The king and queen nodded, and left, Eriol following close behind.

"I guess... this is truly it then." Grayson murmured to his old friend.

"Keep Armen safe, okay?" Drake smiled at him sadly. "I can sense a large portion of Armen in him. Just... give Armen a better life than the one he previously led. Because I am certain he deserves another chance."
