Part 11: Birthday Girl

Alexa's POV

December 15, 2015. Today was my 18th birthday. My mom woke me up with my special birthday breakfast. When I finished I curled my hair. I wanted to look good today. My make up was a little more put together than usual. I told my mom goodbye and walked to the bus stop.

Matt was already there looking nice. He smiled when I walked up to him. "Hey beautiful." he said while kissing my cheek. I blushed and wrapped my arms around his waist. He rested his chin on my head. Then he took out a box from a jewelry store. I gasped. "You didn't have to." I said looking at him, not taking the box. "But I did." he said smiling and put the box in my hand. I let out a sigh and opened the shiny box. It was gorgeous! "Matt!" I yelled in happiness. I started to tear up. Happy tears rolled down my cheeks. He took his thumb and wiped away the tears. Matt took the gold necklace out of the box. "Let me put it on you." he said. I lifted my curls and felt his cold hands on my neck. "There. Perfect." he said. He stepped in front of me. I let my hair fall upon my neck. The bus pulled up.

"Happy Birthday." A random girl said to me. I just smiled and held Matt's hand. When we reached Mrs.Beck's room we broke our hands. Mrs. Beck handed me a card. She gave me a smile then walked to the front of the room. I secretly opened the card under my desk. 'Happy Birthday,
I hope you have a wonderful party and have lots of fun on this special day!' I grinned at what she said.

My locker slammed shut. I threw my backpack on my back. "Hey smile babe it's your birthday." Matt said while nudging me. I looked at him and shot him a fake smile. He laughed and intertwined our fingers. It was cold out so I leaned into Matt. He kissed my head. When we reached my house he had a sly smile. I gave him a confused look. What did he do? Why is he smiling like that? I unlocked the door. "Surprise!!" everyone yelled. "Oh my gosh!" I squealed. I quickly turned towards Matt. He was smiling still and opened his arms. I ran into them and cried. How could I be so lucky? From small new girl to known and and popular. Life is funny sometimes. I wiped my tears and hugged my friends. All of my friends and my mom were there. "I'll be right back." I said hurrying up the stairs. I changed into a dark blue party dress, some jewelry, and put on some more make up. Then I walked down the stairs and joined in on the fun. My mom brought out the cake and lit the candles. I pushed my hair back so it wouldn't catch on fire. "Happy Birthday to you," they sang. I leaned in and wished. I wish for my dad to be here. I blew out the candles and everyone clapped.

My mom passed out plates full of cake and ice cream. I took a plate and sat next to Matt. I laid my head on his shoulder and took small bites, not really interested into the food. While people were finishing up my mom announced "Present time!" she said while bringing out the presents. I smiled and went over to sit on the couch so everyone could see. The first one I opened held perfume and a ITunes gift card. She kept handing out presents and I kept opening them.

Then we got to Matt's present. I glanced over at him. He just smiled and put his hand over his mouth to keep from laughing. I slowly removed the wrapping paper. I opened the white box and found Pink sweatshirts and perfume! "Oh Matt I love it!" I squealed. I thumbed through the shirts and loved the colors. But I saw a white shirt in between the sweatshirts. I pulled it out and it had a picture of him in his 'Matthew Espinosa Dinosaur' pose. I laughed hysterically. Matt was laughing also. "You better wear that a lot," he said pointing to it. "Oh, I will." I said nodding.

When everyone left my mom had to go back to work. I was alone in the big house. I grabbed my gifts and took them up stairs. I changed into Matt's Dinosaur shirt and grey sweatpants. I removed my eye make up and lips. I put my hair up into a top knot and ran down the stairs. I plopped down on the couch. I turned on a movie and relaxed. Then I heard a knock at the door. I walked over and opened the door. Matt was standing there. "C'mon in." I said standing out of his way. He walked in and kissed my cheek. "Nice shirt babe." he said. I rolled my eyes and shut the door. He sat down on couch. I jumped on top of him and he fake groaned. "You wanna fly?" he asked raising his eyebrows. I nodded and got up. He raised up his legs and held up his arms. I rested my stomach on his feet and grabbed his hands tight. Then he lifted me high into the air. "I'm flying!" I yelled. "You sure are baby girl." he said. I blushed like mad. It was every girls weakness when he called you baby girl.
