Chapter 59

Veronica's P.O.V

It was a nice autumn day like the day before and the day before that one. It was the same old thing everyday, basically. I was really happy winter was not so far away. The nights were getting chillier by the day.

The sun was up by six and set around seven. People go on their morning runs to walk their dogs or catch up with a good friend. Me? Well I wake up at seven thirty to go to work at a small coffee shop two blocks away from where I rent in a small apartment building.

I wasn't exactly a big apartment but it was big enough for one person...sometimes two.

Being an adult wasn't exactly as fun as they said in the books. I'm responsible but being 25 isn't exactly a walk in the park. You have to deal with buying your own clothes and food and paying bills...

I guess I've being doing that most of my life haven't I?

Currently I was working the night shift. I needed the extra money since Scott's birthday will be coming up and I wanted to buy him something special. I was thinking about buying him one of those shoes that tie themselves but its hard to decide.

"Its closing time." Harry tells me as he closes the front door.

I finish cleaning up the rest of the tables and go to the locker room.

"I'll see you tomorrow, Harry." I wave at him. "Tell your wife I said congrats!"

Harry waves back. "I will!"

Harry and his wife, Lidia, just had a baby girl a couple of weeks ago but Harry was on paternal leave and today was his first day back.

I wrap my sweater tighter around my body. Winter sure was starting this year with a bang.

"Boo"

I had never screamed so loud in my life.

"You jerk! What is wrong with you! Its eleven thirty in the night and you decide to scare me! I shriek.

"Wow, wow! Calm down." He laughs and wraps his around my waist. "It was just a little joke, babe. Don't be mad."

I gave him the silent treatment and moved away from his -warm- hold. I continued my way to my apartment.

"Babe!" I heard him chuckle behind me.

I couldn't help but smile at his laugh. It made me happy. I held my head higher and continued to walk.

His loud footsteps followed behind me and I felt his breath near my ear. I turned my head to the left and smiled.
"I see that smile of yours." He grabs my hand and turns me around. I shut my eyes and look right. "Playing hard to get are we? Well, what if I did this?"

Suddenly, I feel a kiss on my hand. I open one eye and look down.

"You look like a total idiot." I say.

"Ah! There is my beautiful girl." He smile and wraps his right arm around my shoulder and we continue walking.

We walked in silence just listing to each others breathing. I slowly look up at him. I will never get tired of seeing him.

His face was beautiful to say the least. Perfect jawline. Perfect eyes. I was sure a lucky gal to end up with someone like him.

Of course we had our fights here and there but we always apologized to each other in the end.

My eyes widen and I looked beside me where I could see some bushes moving around. "You heard that too, right"
