|Chapter 4|
I raised my eyebrows, waiting for him to say something. I don't know why I give him the time of day, but I do it anyway.
"Off today?" He said and I nodded. He wouldn't leave me alone until he talked to me. He was dressed in a suit so obviously he wasn't. He just nodded.
"What do you want?" I sighed.
"Um, I-"
"I don't have time for you to apologize or whatever you're trying to do okay? So I'm just going to go." I turned away and walked away. He sighed and walked off. I shook my head.
When Alexia finally got tired, we went home and I made lunch.
*Two Days Later*
I got dressed and ran down to my car. I was meeting my mom for lunch and I was already almost late. Mandy's watching Lexi so it's all good. I'm not forgetting anything. I got to the restaurant and found her. She was sitting there with Gina. I sat down and sighed.
"Hi Rayne! It's been such a long time! How have you been?" She said.
"I've been good. How about you?" I said.
"I'm good." She said. We continued chatting and we soon ordered.
"I'm sorry I'm late." I heard and I looked at my mom, raising my eyebrows. He sat down next to me and I let out a breath. Who planned this? I rolled my eyes. Good thing I didn't bring Lexi. I would've left. I just ignored them and pulled out my phone. I had a picture of Lex and I as my screensaver.
"Who's that?" He was actually looking over my shoulder.
"None of your goddamn business." I threw my phone down on the table. I stared at the wall behind my mother and our food was sat down. I began eating. After I was finished, the checks were set down. He grabbed mine and I laughed.
"What?" He said, glancing over at me.
"Paying for my bill? Classy," I stood up. "This has been wonderful ladies. We'll have to do it again. I have to go. Goodbye." I waved. My mom opened her mouth to say something, but I just turned around and walked out. I went to get Lexi and we went home. I sat on the couch and there was a knock on the door. I groaned and stood up. Right when I sat down. I opened the door, ready to fight someone. There he was.
"Rayne." He said.
"What are you doing here? How do you know where I live?" I asked him.
"I-"
"Who are you?" Lexi had my sunglasses on. She also had my lipstick spread across her face. I laughed.
"Seriously. What are you doing?" I pushed Lexi away from the door, out of his view. He looked from her to me.
"You had the baby..?" He was nervous, I could tell.
"Yes, I did." I said and he shifted uncomfortably.
"What's her name?" He asked.
"Alexia." I said and he slightly smiled.
"C-Can I see her?" He said. I can't keep them away from each other forever. Besides, she needs him. Even though he irritates me, Alexia needs to know that her father is like.. real. She pulled the door open and I stared at her.
"You say my name?" She said and I shook my head. "Yes. I heard it. What's your name?"
"Cameron." He said and she laughed.
"That's cute." She said and I grabbed her arm.
"Go wipe that off, monkey." I said and she sighed walking to the kitchen. I looked back at him.
"She's really cute." He smiled."Yeah. She gets it gets it from me, obviously. Come on." I said opening the door wider. What told me to even let him see her? I thought I was going to be a bitch to him? Ugh. She had all the lipstick off her face and she took off the sunglasses.
"I think we should have a party!" She yelled.
"Tone it down." I said and she frowned.
"I can't mommy," she turned to Cameron. "What's your favorite color?" You could barely understand anything she was saying.
"What?" He laughed.
"She said what's your favorite color." I said.
"It's pink! I knew it." She said getting on the couch. She sat between us. Thank god. They continued talking non-stop. He better tell her. I gave him a look.
"What?" He said.
"You have to tell her!" I said and he stood up.
"I can't." He said and I groaned.
"You can't do anything these days, Cameron." I rolled my eyes.
"No, mom! They'll fall out." She hit my wrist.
"You stop it." I said and she put her hands on her hips.
"You stop it." She mocked.
"Little girl." I said.
"Little girl." She stuck her tongue out.
"I'm done Alexia! Stop." I said and she laughed.
"You're like a princess." She said and I laughed.
"Wish I was." I said.
"But you're not, you silly goose!" She laughed.
"Yeah, well." She continued laughing.
"You're cute." She said to Cameron.
"I am? You are." He said and she shook her head.
"You're like a baby." She tapped his nose.
"I'm not a baby." He said and she nodded.
"You don't have to cry," She squished his face together and laughed. She was talking like a baby to him. "You want a bottle baby? You need a nap. Go to sleep."
"I'm okay." He said and she screamed.
"Lexi, stop." I said.
"You have to listen to me." She grabbed his hands.
"Not really." He said and she sighed.
"Mom, tell him to." She looked over at me.
"I can't." I shrugged.
"Fine. I'm going to sleep." She walked back to her room. Well, this is awkward.
"You're making this very awkward when it doesn't have to be." I looked over at him.
"What do you want me to do? If I do or say the wrong thing, you'd kill me." He was right.
"I'd enjoy that." I smiled and he stood up.
"I'm going to go." He said and I grabbed his wrist.
"Go back there and tell her now," he shook his head. "She's a little girl. She'll be excited more than anything. She's not asleep. I'll go with you." I pulled him back to her room.
"Just.. not today, please." He said and I turned towards him.
"Why not?" What shit excuse does he have now?
"It's too early, I-"
"You better do it before it's too late. I want her to know. She's asks about you all the time. Let's just get it done." I dragged him into her room.
