| Chapter 25 |
It was a few weeks later and I decided to do what's best for me and start not ignoring Brandon. I think we just need to talk it out. He's really trying, I know that, but he didn't trust me then. Like I would ever, ever want to be back with Cameron Dallas. Oh, sometimes there's those weird feelings I get around him, but he was truly my first love. There was Alex, but who gives a damn about him? Anyways, when I walked into the office, I went straight to Brandon's office and knocked. Hopefully he doesn't hate me or hasn't moved on. I would go cry in the corner if he's either honestly. The door flew open and there he was, looking so good in his suit.
"Uh, hi?" I tried to smile, but I don't think I did. Maybe more of a grimace.
"Can I talk to you for a second?" He nodded and let me in. He shut the door behind me and I started walking to the other side of his desk. I grabbed his shoulder and spun him around before crashing my lips into his. His hands immediately went under my chin and I held onto his sides. I pulled away and he breathed out a sigh.
"Forgive me?" He smirked and I patted his cheek.
"I'm in the process of doing so. Can we just like . . start all over again? This whole thing has been an absolute disaster and we just need a clean slate." He nodded and grabbed my hands.
"Go out for coffee with me? Hm?" He leaned closer to me, brushing his nose against mine.
"A-Alright." He smiled and I pecked his lips.
"Tomorrow then?" I nodded and squeezed his hands.
"Sure. Uh, I have a lot of work to do so . . see you around." I turned on my heel after awkwardly waving for a little bit too long and once I got out the door, I groaned. I used to be so smooth. Cameron's got me all messed up.

After work, I drove to my mom's and went to get Alexia. She's being a brat as always. She's went too long without seeing Cameron. I thought he scared her enough now to where I can threaten her with 'telling daddy', but I was wrong. I strapped her into her car seat and she wailed like a siren all the way home. I just turned up the radio louder and she apparently thought I didn't hear her, so she screamed ever louder. Once I got her into the apartment, I threw her on the couch and grabbed my phone. I dialed Cameron.
"What?" I heard when he picked up.
"Um, your daughter needs you so how about you get here?" He scoffed.
"Give me a damn minute, Rayne. I literally just got laid." He whispered.
"You know what? Don't come. I'll take care of it myself because I don't want you around my daughter after you just did that." I spat in disgust. I don't even want him touching her.
"So? Babe, calm down-"
"Just be fucking responsible! If you just got laid, why tell me? Huh?! I don't care about what you do! I only care that my daughter has you in her life. All I see you as is her father. Nothing more, nothing less and there's a certain responsibility there, I think. Oh, right. You're supposed to fucking be here! Honestly, don't come. Stay there and continue screwing some poor girl you don't even care about." I slammed my phone and turned around. Alexia was sitting there watching me. She stopped crying, but her eyes were still wet.
"Mommy . . "
"I'm sorry. I shouldn't have yelled, but your dad just makes me so angry sometimes, I can't even talk to him." I turned my attention to the kitchen and started rapidly cleaning everything in there. A knock sounded on the door and I sighed and set the pan down before drying my hands. If it's Cameron, I'm not answering. I looked through the peep hole and there he was. I don't want him to even look at my little girl. I kept the door shut and made no noise until he stopped knocking.
"Rayne, come on!" I heard him yell through the door. Alexia gasped.
"Daddy!" She tried to run around me to the door, but I grabbed her and held her to my chest.
"No, sweetie. We can't let him in." She looked confused, but I had nothing to say more about it.
"But daddy's at the door!" She whispered and pointed.
"Yeah, I know, but he wasn't nice to mommy and I don't want to see him." He hasn't been nice to ever, honestly. Even when we were together. He was a controlling freak the whole time. I set her down on the couch and after telling her not to go to the door, despite the knocking, and I began making some spaghetti. We have this way too often. My phone started ringing and I turned the whole thing off. Fuck him. I was stirring the pot when the door flew open.
"What the hell!" I yelled, dropping the spoon and stomping over to him.
"What do you mean, what the hell?! Why aren't you letting me in?" He crossed his arms and I glanced back at Alexia watching us.
"Can you quit yelling? It's scaring her," I whispered. "I don't want you here. That's why. I told you not to come and here you are. Can you leave?" I asked and he shook his head.
"Why would I?" I sighed and pinched the bridge of my nose.
"Cam, please. I had an exhausting day. I called you to come see Lexi and you were busy. So what?" I shrugged and made my way back to the kitchen to stir the pasta again.
"I'm never too busy for you two." I looked at him from over my shoulder and rolled my eyes.
"Yeah, right. Well, can you watch her tomorrow if you're not 'too busy'?" He tilted his head.
"Where are you going?" I smirked down at the boiling water and turned to him.
"I'm going out with Brandon." He clenched his jaw and I got ready for him to yell and scold me.
