First Confession

Chapter 7

I woke up to Sonic staring down at me. Sonic?! How did he…I guess there was a key; it was his house.

“Its ok, now. Shadow is locked away in your room and on constant watch,” I was horrified at what Sonic said.

“How could you?! You know I like him!” I was shocked at Sonic’s hostility.

Sonic laughed, “I’m just kidding; he’s okay now, he was just playing with you, he wasn’t going to hurt you.”

I knew that Shadow would never hurt me, but that time, he just flat-out scared me. “That’s my Shadow.”

“I do have something to tell you; I-I-I re-really l-l-like you, Dabria. More than a friend,” Sonic blushed. (Aw, Sonic! I would so not date him though. I love Shadow more)

“Shadow told me, and its ok. Shadow was going to have your head if he didn’t think it through. He was probably thinking about Maria. That poor soul…” my voice trailed off. Sonic was mad for a minute, but thought it through like Shadow. I am such a good influence to this group :D.

“Shadow locked himself in his room. He won’t say why, but I’m sure he will let you in. He actually had a room, but preferred to stay with you,” Sonic broke the news to me. I got up and so did he. Sonic unlocked the door and led me to Shadow’s room door.

“Good luck,” Sonic whispered and sped off. I knocked on the door.

“I told you to leave me alone, Faker! I’m not coming out!” Shadow yelled hastily at the door. Poor Shadow, he needed me more than I thought.

“Shadow, its Dabria,” I said to the door. Shadow opened the door with a sad look on his face. I showed sympathy and gave him a hug. He hugged me back tighter.

“I’m sorry, Dabria, I didn’t know,” Shadow apologized. He led me inside his room. It was black with half of his symbol painted on the wall. I’ll bet he’s going to finish that soon. We sat on his bed for a while and he was staring outside the window.

“Is there something wrong?” I asked concerned.

“Maria,” that’s all he said.

“Do you want to tell me a little more that I don’t know about her?”

“Well, she was really excited after I came to life, asked me directly if I wanted to be her friend. Of course I said yes. That was the only time I was actually happy before I met you. I remember playing tag, her cute laugh. Her last words to me were 'Shadow, it is for your good to go to that planet and not me. You will have to take my place; protect those people on that planet, be their hero….” Shadow cut off. I looked up at him and tears were streaming down his face. His minor tears turned into sobs and then he lost control. Shadow leaned on my shoulder.

“Shadow, don’t hold it in, just let it all out. I’m here now,” Shadow took my advice and started bawling for Maria. I’ve never seen him like this ever. Shadow shouted her name in between sobs. I wished I could do something to bring her back. All I could do was let him rest his head on my lap while I soothed him. I told him that Maria sent him to this planet to find me and fall in love. This wasn’t entirely true, but he eased up a little. He soon cried himself to sleep and I continued to stroke his head, trying to calm him. I didn’t sleep the whole night because I was so worried about Shadow. It was like our first date, he couldn’t sleep and I was peacefully sleeping on top of him. It was the other way around tonight. I kept thinking of what Shadow said about Maria and soon I started crying too; crying for Shadow. I wished I could do something more for him so bad. At about 6am, I looked out the window and saw the rising sun. I stayed up all night for Shadow and he did the same a few days ago. My poor little Shadow.
