Knuckles Confesses

Chapter 8

Suddenly, I was attacked out of nowhere. This someone pinned me from behind and I heard someone speak in my ear, “You can’t outrun me no matter how hard you try. You are very lucky that I love you.”

I blushed at Shadow’s comment. I knew I could never outrun him. I just don’t want to work, I thought. Shadow helped me up and said that we should go back to Sonic’s house. He took my hand, but I didn’t move. As good as this felt, I would not move.

“You’re a stubborn one aren’t you?” Shadow smiled at me. He tried pulling me again, but I pulled back. I am not letting him take me back and work. Shadow suddenly picked me up bridal style and I was caught off guard. I mindlessly put my arms around his neck to hold myself upright. I blushed when our faces were just inches apart.

“You like that, don’t you?” Shadow looked deeply into my eyes. I felt the urge to kiss him, but I was too nervous. I turned away from his gaze, still blushing.

“Now you can’t get away,” Shadow’s smile turned evil.

“Shadow,” I whined.

“I’m taking you back now and you can’t stop me,” with that Shadow took out his grassy green Chaos Emerald and Chaos Controlled us back to Sonic’s house.

“It’s about time!” Knuckles said completely annoyed as the bright white light wore away. Shadow let me down and stood behind me so I couldn’t run off again. I crossed my arms over my chest.

“Come on, Dabria, don’t be that way,” Sonic said. I now decided that I should drop my stubborn act and cooperate. I don’t want Shadow to change his mind about tonight.

I sighed in defeat, “Ok, I’ll cooperate only because I have a date tonight,” I smiled at Shadow and he returned it. Sonic paired us up randomly, in my opinion, because I got Knuckles! Really? We had a whole group of opponents, and I got Knuckles! I thought like Sonic for a second. If he paired us up with our enemies, we would work harder. That’s probably why Sonic got Shadow. Knuckles and I found a quiet place nearby the location Shadow and Sonic were training. Knuckles put his hands in front of him.

“Sonic gave me specific instructions to work on your skill, not mine. I do not want any insults, I’m serious Dabria,” Knuckles told me, “Now, hit me.”

I punched Knuckles in his stomach and he stumbled backwards a bit.

“I meant my hands, not my stomach! Ow,” Knuckles cringed. I didn’t know that I punched him that hard.

“Are you ok?! Oh my gosh Knuckles, I’m so sorry!” I was so guilty. I made him sit down next to me and I put my arm around him as he clutched his stomach. After a little while, he got up and motioned me to do the same. He held his hands up in front of him again.

“Ok, let’s try this again. Hit me,” Knuckles instructed. I punched his right hand hard, “Again, harder!” and I did as told. I heard an explosion behind me, but I ignored it as I was too concentrated on my training. Knuckles kept telling me this same phrase over and over. I kept hitting both of his hands until I heard another voice behind me.

“I see you have been working hard, Dabria,” I turned around quickly, very surprised, and saw my favorite black and red hedgehog behind me.

Knuckles walked towards me and put his arm around me, “Yea, she’s a great fighter and has amazing concentration and speed,” Shadow growled at Knuckles and Knuckles took a few steps back.

“Hey, don’t be that way, Shadow,” I gently nudged him.

“You can’t change my overprotective personality, Dabria. I would like to see how you have progressed,” Shadow held his hands up like Knuckles did and I got in a ready stance.

“Hit me,” I heard Shadow’s words and I quickly began concentrating again. I threw hard punches at Shadow’s hands, and didn’t let anything distract me. After a while, Shadow nodded and someone pulled on one of my quills and held me back. I stopped throwing punches and looked up at Shadow. He looked very pleased with me. I guessed Knuckles was behind me and he let go of my quills.

“I am very impressed, Dabria,” Shadow pulled me into his arms and hugged me tight, “I’m proud of you,” he whispered.

“Ahem! I’m still here!” Knuckles shouted at Shadow. Shadow let go of me with a smirk.

“I’ll continue later,” Shadow whispered again. Shadow, Knuckles and I walked back into the house. I saw Sonic in pain and Tails and Amy beat up.

“What happened?” I asked, very concerned.

Tails and Amy pointed at each other and Sonic pointed at Shadow. I chuckled and knew that Shadow won his training session. I helped Amy make dinner while the boys lounged in the living room.

“Do you ever get tired of cooking for them? They are so dependent on us,” I growled.

“I heard that,” Shadow called. I blushed behind the stove.

Amy answered my question with a nod and added, “But I make the best for my Sonic and the others can have it too.”

When I saw Shadow go up the stairs, I asked Amy a question, “I have another date tonight with Shadow. Um, I know this is short notice, but what do you think I should wear?”

“You are obsessed with the way you look, aren’t you?” Amy laughed at me, “Its ok, I understand. Shadow is always around, so you couldn’t ask me. Of course I’ll help you. After dinner, meet me in my room, I have the perfect thing for you.”

I was so relieved. Just then, I felt someone put their hands on my sides. I tilted my head up and saw Shadow staring down at me, “Shadow, you pervert,” I teased, but he knew I was only kidding around. Amy and I finally finished making dinner with minor distractions (Shadow). Everyone gathered around the table and sat down. I pulled Knuckles aside before he entered the kitchen.

“Hey, do you want me to keep that secret that I hit and hurt you?” I asked him.

“I guess I should tell you this, I was faking it so that you would put your arm around me,” Knuckles looked away and then back at me, “The truth is that I really like you, Dabria,” he blushed a bright red just like those times Rouge flirted with him. I was shocked at his confession.

One part of me thought, Aw, Knuckles likes me. Another part of me thought, I have so many boys after me! What’s next? Tails confessing his love for me? And my last thought was; Shadow’s going to kill me for being so attractive.

I told Knuckles to walk into the kitchen casually and I would follow later.

“Hey, Knux we all thought that you and Dabria were making out or something ‘cause you were taking so long,” Sonic teased Knuckles.

“WE WERE NOT MAKING OUT!!!!” Knuckles yelled. Sonic just snickered. Shadow glared at me. I just took my seat next to Shadow, not looking at him. He was probably thinking of a way to get out of taking me on a date tonight. I felt so guilty for something I didn’t even do. I kept thinking in my head, Shadow, I wasn’t kissing Knuckles, I am yours, and yours only. Finally, Shadow answered me after what seemed like years.

Will you tell me what was taking so long, then? Shadow thought. I hesitated and looked at Knuckles, then back at my plate. I had almost eaten everything and was still hungry for more. I never knew that I could make such awesome food.

If you promise not to kill me, I thought.

Of course I won’t.

Knuckles faked an injury so I would put my arm around him and I thought it was real. I pulled him aside and asked him if he wanted it kept a secret. He told me that he faked the injury and confessed his love for me. Please Shadow---.

“Knuckles, you keep your hands off my girl!!!” Shadow suddenly yelled. Knuckles nervously looked at me and I lowered my head. Knuckles was going to get it now. I waited for another outburst. Shadow closed his eyes tight, relaxed, and sat back down. I couldn’t eat anymore and waited until Amy got up, then I left the table; after putting my dishes in the sink of course. I ran up the stairs to my room and closed the door. I got into bed and tried to fall asleep.
