Healed and Renewed

Chapter 18

Dabria’s POV

I have no idea how long we laid here in bed being bums. Shadow has been nothing but good to me, even though we are not able to move very much. It seems like months past, but my judgment is not always correct as usual. Both Shadow and I have begun to heal quite nicely; Shadow was healing faster than I was. I have been feeling a little miserable lately because of my limited mobility and jealous of Shadow’s power of healing. I fight with myself too much.

I shook my head and Shadow looked over at me, almost completely healed, “What are you thinking about?”

“I’m dreading laying here doing nothing and sleeping. I slept too much,” it was nighttime; I could see the stars in the sky. They were always pretty to me.

“Don’t think about it too much, love,” Shadow stroked my cheek. I got under the covers and drifted off to sleep once again.

I woke up the next morning with Shadow right next to me. I tried not to wake him by staying still; he looked in deep focus and concentration with his arm around me. I felt amazing, refreshed and I looked down and saw I was glowing a crimson red. Was this glow from Shadow? What was he doing? I cannot believe that he would be trying to hurt me, it felt…nice. I relaxed, snuggled back into my pillow to wait for Shadow to finish. I also noticed that I did not hurt as much as yesterday. I drifted back to sleep again….

I woke again, this time with Shadow’s crimson eyes staring into mine. The glow was gone, but I still felt relaxed.

“Good morning, angel,” Shadow cooed in his deep voice that I still love.

I tried to clear my throat to answer, “Morning,” I said in my unattractive morning voice. Shadow chuckled and I blushed. I got up without difficulty and Shadow kept smiling at me, “What are you smiling about?” a playful grin tugged at my mouth.

“Notice anything?” he teased with a sexy smile.

“You’re cute when you smile?”

Shadow chuckled, “No silly, you can walk,” he gave me another smirk. I realized it; yes, I could walk! I did not have any pain! I smiled to myself and looked at Shadow.

“What did you do? I know this wasn’t natural,” he chuckled again at my oblivion.

“What? Didn’t you know I could heal others with Chaos energy?”

“I didn’t….” I trailed off and smiled warmly at him.

“Now that we finally have some time alone…I’d like to ask you out on another date. It won’t be relaxing though,” he ended with his signature smirk. There is absolutely no way I could say no, especially with a challenge lingering.

“Of course I will, Shadow. When? Tonight?”

“If you don’t mind, I’d love to spend time with you, no Eggman attached. I promise,” I smiled and nodded approvingly. I cannot remember a time where we did not have chaos going on, this is what I need, “Meet me out back behind the house at four and wear sweats. Don’t dress up, ok?”

“Yes sir!” I mocked a salute. We both laughed.

After I said yes to a secret date tonight, Shadow left; said he had ‘things’ to do. I am very suspicious still, but I guess I will have to wait until tonight. I wonder why I will have to wear sweats....

I shook my head; I cannot have that bothering me all day, it is only until four at least. I lay down in my bed, throwing my Emerald up and catching it again several times, trying to think of something to do. I looked to my right and around my room.

There has to be something, I thought to myself, “Ouch! Damn it!” I rubbed the spot where my Emerald landed on my face. No more playing with that terror.

I decided that I should go outside and see what I could do there.

I walked out the door to the lush green fields outside Sonic’s mansion.

I heard someone yell, “LOOK OUT!!!!” I could not react fast enough as someone collided with me. I rubbed my head. Sonic? What was he running from?

“Quick! Dabria, you have to hide me! I can’t answer any questions!” Sonic panicked, poor guy. I was confused but I ushered him into the house and hid him in a closet. He gave me a thankful smile as I closed the door.

“SONICCC! Where are you?” I heard Amy yelling outside, oh god. I jumped on the couch and flipped on the television quick before she suspected anything.

Amy burst into the house, hammer in full view, “Dabria, where’s my Sonic?” she whined. She walked over to the couch. I had no idea what I was going to say…or what I was watching.

“Um, I didn’t see him if that’s what you’re asking,” I stared blankly at the television.

“Dabria, why are you watching a police chase?” Amy sounded confused.

Shadow must have been watching before me, only he would watch this stuff. I flipped the channel quickly and landed on a show called ‘My Little Pony’. I just can’t win. On the show, they were introducing a new pony, named Princess MoonCatcher, but I clicked the remote again before something else happened.

I could not play games anymore, “Sorry, Amy, Sonic is playing hide and seek and told me not to tell you where he was.”

She looked surprised, “Sonic! I’m going to find you~!” she left me and I switched off the TV and went back to my room to take a nap. I realize I should not be awake in this house. I fell asleep with Shadow on my mind….
