Chapter 11

This is Just a Beginning

It was such nerve wrecking for Mai Ding.

Currently he sat down in the waiting room Zhang Inc., the company where he would work at. It was a big company, and he was so delightful to know that it wasn't just a small and ordinary company. Before this day, he would never dare to dream to start his working career in this precious place.

Now he had to waiting for the company's representative named Yang Lu. He was the one who gave Mai Ding a short interview and accepted Mai Ding just now. Once they done with the short interview, he excused himself and asked for Mai Ding to wait a little bit more because he would take the job contract for Mai Ding to sign of.

"Mr. Mai Ding, sorry for making you wait for a while."

Mai Ding immediately lifted his face and looked at Yang Lu who just came back to the room with a file in his hand. Mai Ding gave him smile. This man was nothing but kind to him. If everyone in this company would be this generous to him, Mai Ding didn't doubt that he would be very comfortable to work here.

Mai Ding shook his head repeatedly, "No, it's okay. It's not that long."

Yang Lu smiled again. "Here, the contract." He gave the file in his hand to Mai Ding.

"You will be part of administration team. Basically you will be under the president's secretary command. And once in a while you will have to under the president's command as well. If the president's secretary couldn't attend a certain meeting or business trip, it will be your team obligation to replace her place to assist the president in the said meeting or business trip. There are several more conditions, everything is stated in that contract. And this is one year contract, if you happen wanted to break the contract and stop working here, you have to pay for a certain amount of money as the penalty. You can read it carefully before you sign it. I'll give you some time."

Mai Ding a little gawked at Yang Lu's long explanation. He could understand, and some even couldn't even registered on his mind. It was Mai Ding's first experience, no wonder he still didn't understand how everything in business field works. But then again what could be so wrong about this contract? It must be just a common business contract. How many people sign this kind of contract everyday? Mai Ding shouldn't be the only one.

With that in mind, Mai Ding read the file shortly and flashed another smile to Yang Lu. "I think I read it enough, I'll sign it." Mai Ding said happily.

"Fine, then. If there is no more problems, you can start to work here tomorrow. We are glad for having you join this company, Mr. Mai Ding." Yang Lu shook Mai Ding's hand. It meant the contract was really sealed now.

Poor Mai Ding, though. He didn't yet realize, by signing that contract, now he was fully tied up for a man named Zhang Lu for the whole long year and there was no escape.

Mai Ding couldn't contain his happiness once he stepped out from Zhang Inc.'s building. He was smiling like a fool and he didn't care if everyone start to look at him strangely. It was a good day, indeed. He had a job now. An Ziyan's mother had no right anymore to look down on him. He was a capable man too. He would making money himself and soon enough, she would realize that Mai Ding loved An Ziyan just as An Ziyan. He didn't go for money, status, fame or anything else.

Too engrossed with his own happiness, Mai Ding barely realize that there was someone who had been calling and trying to approach Mai Ding.

"Mai Ding! Mai Ding!"

Mai Ding snapped. He turned around and he was shocked to find Aunt Qian Mei approached him.

"Mai Ding, it's really you! I thought I was wrong, but it turns to be really you." Aunt Qian Mei was smiling widely. It's been a while since her first encounter with Mai Ding. Truth to be told, she really wanted to meet this kind young man, but she was afraid Mai Ding was busy with his own life. She didn't want to disturb.

"Aunt Qian Mei!" Mai Ding shouted excitedly. It was so unexpected for him to meet the middle-age woman here. "What are you doing here, Aunty? And with who? Such a beautiful lady like you wandering around alone, what if something bad happened to you again?"

Aunt Qian Mei chuckled. He slapped Mai Ding's arm playfully. "What a sweet talker!" She said. "I'm here because I want to meet with my son. And I'm this time I'm bringing along my driver." Aunt Qian Mei pointed at certain direction and Mai Ding followed it with his eyes. And he immediately could see Aunt Qian Mei's shiny black car parked not so far away from them, and her driver was waiting behind the driver seat.

"Meet with your son? Where?" Mai Ding asked with raised eyebrow. They stood not far from Zhang Inc.'s building, and as far as Mai Ding could see it's just office complex. Where did Aunt Qian Mei to meet her son?

When Aunt Qian Mei pointed at Zhang Inc.'s building, Mai Ding eyes nearly popped out. "There? In Zhang Inc.? Aunty, I just signed a job contract. I'll be working there too" Mai Ding exclaimed happily. "Tell me, in which division he's working at? Maybe I can be friends with him."

Aunt Qian Mei was silence for a while. Something didn't feel right. Mai Ding was working in their company now?

Aunt Qian Mei sighed heavily. She couldn't believe tha her son actually really went this far. She thought, Zhang Luo wasn't really serious about Mai Ding. "Mai Ding, my son is the president of that company. His name is Zhang Luo."

"Eh?" Mai Ding's jaw dropped.

"Zhang Luo! What exactly you're trying to do?!" Aunt Qian Mei was bragging into the Zhang Luo's room. She looked at her son with unhappy expression, clearly contrast with his son cheery expression. He seemed as if he was in very good mood.

"Ah, hello to you to, Mother." Zhang Luo smiled sweetly. "What do you mean with what am I trying to do?"

Aunt Qian Mei scoffed. "I met with Mai Ding just now."

"And?" Zhang Luo asked back. He was totally faking his innocent and pretended that Mai Ding working here wasn't part of his plan.

Aunt Qian Mei sighed. She knew she had this playful side inside of her, and it seemed it inherited very well to her own son. "Don't be too much, my son. You can't force someone's feeling on you. You can't hurt in the end if the result isn't like you're expected. And you can hurt Mai Ding too, in the process."

"We will not know if we didn't try, Mother. Don't worry, it's just a beginning." Zhang Luo smiled confidently, not a slight doubt in his voice.
