I was so tired that I passed out immediately after Nora left. Luckily, I still had enough energy to change into my pj's. I had explained everything to her and she seemed satisfied yet stunned but she just told me that we would meet at the bonfire party the next day.
There was a knock on my door but I chose to ignore it. I bet it’s just my sister borrowing clothes for school. She will just come in anyway if I didn't answer the door. She always does that and it was too early for Nora to visit. I heard footsteps in my room then I felt someone patting my shoulder. "Wake up," a soft male voice whispered.
I slightly opened my eyes and I was face to face with a guy wearing all black. My mind couldn't seem to process what I was seeing. I gasped, "RILEY? What are you doing here?"
"I, er, just wanted to thank you for last night and I brought you breakfast." He handed me a paper bag.
I peeked inside it. There were 2 coffees and a bagel. "Thanks!" I said with a smile on my face.
"I asked your mom if you were home then she told me you were in your room but I didn't know you were sleeping. I'm sorry."
"No, it's totally fine! So what brought you here anyway besides the fact that you wanted to thank me for last night?"
"Well, first of all, you never said goodbye. Second, get dressed! Don't ask why." He said with eagerness in his face.
Without asking why, I did what he said. I took a quick shower while Riley waited inside my room. After a couple of minutes, I reached for my clothes. But it wasn't there. Shoot! I left my clothes on top of my bed. I grabbed the bathrobe and slowly opened the door that intersects my room and the bathroom. Riley was browsing through my collection of baby pictures on top of my desk at the opposite of the room. He turned toward me as if sensing my presence.
"Oh." He said noticing that I wasn't wearing anything but a bathrobe. "I'll just-"
He was interrupted when a girl burst in my room. "Rise and shine!" Nora shouted.
Her expression changed when she saw Riley. She turned toward me and her eyes narrowed, registering what I was wearing. "Did you two just have—"
"No!" Riley and I said at once.
"Okay then." Nora seemed to not buy it but she didn't say anymore. "Anyway, are we still going to the bonfire later, C?"
"Yes, of course."
She eyed Riley suspiciously. "Are you going to the bonfire later?"
"Only if Chloe's going to be there," he winked at me.
I tried to hide my face since I was blushing. "Um, Nora, will you take Riley downstairs and I'll catch up with you after I get dressed?"
I grabbed some beach denim shorts, a white V-neck shirt and flip flops. I hurried downstairs where I saw my mom, Nora and Riley sitting in the living room laughing. Oh lord, could this be? Riley was the first to notice me on the stairs. "Oh great, you're here!" He stood up and walk toward me.
"Are we going now?" I asked. He nodded then I turned me to my mom. "Bye, mom!"
"Well, I'm meeting up with Austin and Daniel—" Nora paused when she saw my face.
