I really miss my dog. She was my only companion. I talked to her all the time. She was the only one yI trusted. She was also the only one who listened to me when I talked. Sometimes I would talk for her. I know it sounds silly but I would convince myself she listened and her barks were her responses. I bet my parents just took her to the pound when I left. They didn't really want her, they just didn't want me to have her. They knew she made me happy. She still enters my dreams every now and then. Those are the days I just want to go back to sleep to be with her again.
I heard a bang. It woke me from a light sleep but wasn't loud enough to wake the whole camp. Jay and Savannah were on either side of me. Both of them were still in a deep sleep. I grabbed the gun. Before going out of the tent to check the scene I woke Savannah. Savannah and I got out of the tent. I walked in front of her since I had the gun. A lady had been shot. There was blood spilling out from her gut. I recognized her as the lady who welcomed us last night. Soon a man came out of another tent. He saw her body and me with the gun. He came to the conclusion that I shot her. Which if I were in his position I would do the same. I don't blame him for assuming that. I told him I didn't, that I just heard a bang and came to see what had happened. He didn't believe me. Savannah tried to defend me and convince him to let us stay here. It didn't work. Savannah and I went back in the tent and woke Jay. He wasn't too happy to be woken up. We quickly explained what had happened. He got up and grabbed the backpack. We decided it was best to just go without telling anyone that was asleep. Savannah found their weapon stash before we left though and took two guns. Now all three of us were holding a gun, it was a lot of weight for Jay to carry since his arm was still wounded. Savannah took the backpack from him. We decided to just go straight. It was the middle of the night but we just walked. There wasn't a safe place to sleep near by. The camp may want revenge. It was back to just walking hoping to find others on our side. We stayed away from fires, assuming they were Isis people. By the time the sun rose we were far away from the camp. There wasn't a make shift road anywhere close. There wasn't a forest close either. In fact we hadn't passed trees in a long time. We seemed to be in an open area. It started to rain. We started running in search of trees. If we got wet and cold we could get sick. Sick and wounded wouldn't be good. I don't know how anyone that isn't with Isis survives out here. We've only been here for a few days and Jay isn't far from dying. With as many enemy's as we have here now we're lucky were alive. I start to wonder about the military that came here with us. I wonder if they are still alive. I wonder if we'll ever see them again. I wonder if I'll ever see anyone again. We find a forest. It looks empty. We go in the forest and stand for a bit. We're waiting for the rain to stop when we hear footsteps approaching. We go to the left. The foot steps seem to be coming from the right. We don't know if they see us. We just walk quietly to the left. Hoping they won't hear us if they don't know we're here. They keep following us. Savannah draws her gun. I do the same. Jay just keeps his arms to his side. He goes in between me and Savannah. The footsteps get closer. Then I can see them. It's not Isis people. We stop walking. We let them catch up to us. We've found two people from the military that came with us.
