A Never Ending Sorrow

Skye's POV

"I'll be seeing you soon. I promise." I felt his soft, warm lips on mine. A few more tears slipped and I felt them being wiped away. 'It's alright Jayy. You've been through enough. Just promise me you'll live out the rest of your life. I love you, with all my heart'

"Goodbye, my love."

'Goodbye Jayy'

I could feel him hesitating to pull the plug for a brief moment. He kissed me once more and I could feel the oxygen stop pumping through me. This was really it. I was finally going to leave this hell forever. "Thank you so much Jayy, I will miss you, but I will always be with you."

"What? Skye, did you just... Oh my god! DOCTOR! DOCTOR! COME QUICK!"

Did he hear me? "Jayy, can.. c-can.. you hear me?" I could barely hear myself mutter. Oh my god, he CAN hear me! I kept trying to open my eyes, but to no avail. "J- jayy, I c-cant open m-my eyes."

"Skye, just keep talking okay. Please I need you to keep talking." I could clearly hear the tears in his voice.

"K-kiss me."

He gently held me on either side of my face and passionately buried his lips into mine. Much too soon, I felt his lips move away. "What's going on Mr. Griffis?"

"She's awake! She spoke, she's going to make it!"

"Skye, can you hear me?"

"Y-yes, I c-c-can't open my eyes."

"You're going to be just fine Ms. Killenger. Here, drink some of this water."

I felt a straw brush my lips and quickly started chugging the delicious liquid. "Is that better?"

"Much, thank you doctor."

"Can you keep trying to open your eyes for me please?"

"Trust me, I couldn't try any harder, I need to see Jayy's beautiful face."

"It's very odd indeed, just take your time. Now that you're awake, we're going to run a few more tests. I'll be back in about an hour once I get everything set up, please let me know if anything changes. If you need anything, feel free to ask Jayy. He's been here for so long, he knows where just about everything is."

"Thank you again so much Dr. Troy." it was Jayy speaking this time. I hadn't heard this much joy in his voice in a very long time.

"Well for once, I don't hate to say it, but I told you so." and with that, the doctor shut the door.

"Skye," Jayy's voice seemed to change suddenly. "I'm so sorry I was about to give up on you. It was selfish and I'm so-"

"No Jayy, even if this had ended differently, thank you. It was so hard to hear you suffer for the past two years. I was trapped in the darkness for so long. I wanted it to end, no matter what that meant. I love you so very much. But its over now, I'm going to be okay."

"I love you too Skye. You couldn't even begin to understand how much."

"Trust me, I can imagine. I could hear everything. Even what happened with my mom the first day I was brought back... but we'll talk more about that later. For now, will you lay with me?" I laughed a little bit.

"What's so funny?"

"I know that technically I've been asleep for a very long time now, but in all reality, it feels like I haven't slept all this time. I just want to fall asleep with you... Please? I promise I'll wake up this time."

"Anything for you, Angel." I felt him crawl next to me. I lifted myself slowly and turned so that I could bury my face in his neck. He smelled just as sweet as I could remember. I could feel myself slipping in and out. "See you soon, beautiful" was the last thing I heard before slipping into a dreamless slumber.
