-----Bryce POV-----
I sat on a cushioned seat in a room surrounded by candles and velvet drapes.
"Just letting you guys know now, don't use the soap." Ace spoke as he exited the bathroom.
I rolled my eyes at his candor as he sighed and took a seat on the large bed in the center of the room.
"Is it still morning?" Adrian questioned, peering out of the window from behind the thick curtains.
"Get away from the window." I sighed.
"Why? They already caught us, plus, Bennie won't let anything happen to us." He replied.
"Didn't you hear? That's not Bennie anymore, they're holding us here for a reason." I spoke, standing and pacing the room.
"Okay so she changed her name, we're not in the dungeons and we weren't exactly forced into this room. I doubt anything is going to happen just because I'm looking out a window."
I crossed my arms.
"So you're okay with being locked in a room with candles, fancy soap and a bed because it's not shackles and a barred window. This is still a prison, no matter which way you see it." I scoffed.
"What's the actual reason behind your anger? The fact that we're being kept in a castle or seeing her with another man?" Adrian questioned.
"What are you implying? That she would willingly be with a guy like that? He's a killer, he practically stole her from me!" I growled.
"Bryce-" Ace tried to intervene when we were interrupted by a knocking at the door.
"Excuse me, the king has requested your presence in the war room." An older woman stepped into the room, bowing her head at us and stepping aside so we could walk in front of her.
She led us down the stairs with a few guards walking behind us.
The door was opened and Yasmin stepped to the side, no one was on either side of the doorway which made me believe they were enchanted.
When we entered, the doors were quickly shut behind us. I looked at our surroundings and found candles and thick curtains like the ones in the room they were keeping us in.
Bennie and that monster stood in the middle of the room, speaking that strange language over a large piece of parchment.
Ace cleared his throat and Bennie looked away from Silas, and walked over to acknowledge us.
"How are you? I trust that you haven't been mistreated." She spoke softly, placing a hand on Ace's shoulder.
"Nah we're good. What's with all the secrecy though?" Ace questioned.
"It's a long story." She sighed, turning and walking back to the large table in the center of the room.
"Tell us then." Adrian replied.
"Your arrival comes...at a sensitive time for the kingdom. We are just recovering from a devastating betrayal at the hands of a vampire clan we signed a peace treaty with. Luckily we managed to intercept the attack before it ocurred but we suffered many losses. Silas and I nearly lost our lives, and now we must decide on a proper course of action for the rest of the clans.
A few moments of silence followed.
"You're loyal to this...man? Do you even know who he is?" I asked.
Silas approached her from behind, speaking in the same language as before. She responded in English.
"Don't worry, I'll explain." She smiled softly at him and I furrowed my brow in confusion.
