-ELIZABETH'S P.O.V.-

Our child was returned safe and sound; Ciel caught the men. I smiled happily, holding Vincent tightly. He cooed in my arms and I simply wanted to cry tears of joy.

That had been months ago and were happy once again. The smile on my lips felt glued on and as if it would never leave. Ciel walked in the room and looked at Vincent. Other than my eyes, Vincent looked almost exactly like Ciel. It was shocking- he was almost a copy.

I glanced over at my husband and his gaze met mine. I looked away but he spoke. "My love, for these past few months our child has taken up all your time. You look tired and malnourished. If you would like I could arrange for Sebastian to watch him for a day or two?" I thought for a moment. He was right but no matter how long it had been for some reason it had felt like I had just gotten my baby back.

"Alright but just for tonight." I compromised and handed the infant to my husband and smiled faintly." Thank you, love."

He offered a ghost of a smile with a curt nod. "I'll make dinner reservations." I smiled but sighed when he left.

Our marriage had yet to he repaired. It was awkward and felt fake; it was almost forced. I was is no mood for romance.

Being a mother was tiring, not to mention since the death of my parents, I have to attend to their old business matter. Only partially though. Since I had already married an Earl, the title Duchess would serve of no purpose to me. My brother, Edward, took on the title from our parents and he will be dealing with the queen instead.

I left the nursery and headed to mine and Ciel's bedroom. I assumed he had planned a nice dinner with some wine and such for later tonight. The awkwardness that will be tonight can wait. It is only two in the morning.

I shut the door and headed to the bathroom that connected to the room. I looked in the mirror and sighed. My eyes were red and I looked even paler than usual. I splashed my face off and headed back into the room. I got back into bed and fell asleep instantly.

-CIEL'S P.O.V.-

I smiled only lightly at the sight of my resting wife. She had still been distant since everything. But it wasn't just that, we argued now. I'm working on a very private mission and one day she had found a suspicious note. I had expected those green eyes of hers to well up with tears; she had always been sensitive. But instead, there was anger and disbelief. I apologized but I don't think she believed me.

Perhaps it has to do with the woman I'm working with for the mission. She's here often and her eyes shoot daggers to Elizabeth. as do hers. My wife had tried to be polite, but the Russian Countess was beyond rude to her. Who knows?.. Our marriage was not in a good place and I am aware that I aren't the best at showing emotions positively.

I turned off the lights and got into bed with her. I stared at her, stroking her long blonde hair- well, what wasn't up in pins to curl it. I gently wrapped my arms around her. I sighed when she moved slightly, struggling almost.

Her eyes opened and they met my gaze. Her face was expressionless until she took off my eyepatch and set it aside. Smiling, she kissed my cheek. "Don't stare, sleep."

She brought her lips close to mine as if she were going to kiss me. Her eyes dropped to my lips and I could feel her breath. I could smell her from how close she was. Roses and mint. Our eyes met and my hand touched her face, cupping her cheek. This was more romance than we had between us for almost a year. I wanted to kiss her and I knew she felt the same. My lips touched hers but barley and I felt and explosion in my heart. I saw her eyes close and I pulled her closer. For a while, we kissed passionately. My tongue pushed into her her mouth and a low moan left her throat.

Quickly pulling away, she observed me again.

But then her expression changed, and her brows furrowed as if she were thinking.

"Goodnight," She whispered instead and turned around. I mentally cursed. Better than nothing though...

-THE MORNING-

-ELIZABETH'S P.O.V.-

"Elizabeth...? Can we talk for a moment?" Ciel asked, something in his expression that I couldn't read.

"Always, what is it dear?" I stirred my tea and glanced over at Vincent before feeding my child a bit.

"We have to postpone our date night." I frowned but nodded. And before I could ask why, he answer. "Tatiana insists we meet tonight, the mission is important to me, dear. You have to understand." No. I did not understand. Not one bit. He was choosing her over his own wife.

Because of their meetings I hardly saw Ciel anymore. Is it me? I mean, I'm almost twenty-four.. She's young, nineteen, intelligent, beautiful, and new...

"I understand.." I said coldly. I sighed and continued to feed our son. "Have fun." His face fell at the sound of my sarcasm and I instantly felt bad. "Don't over work yourself, dear." Was I angry? Fuming.
