Hiii, guys. This song obviously inspired this chapter so I hope you guys give it a shot and listen!

I couldn't look away from her, my wife. And no, not because I was mesmerized. I just didn't know what to do. We sat next to each other at the breakfast table, neither saying a word.

"Stop it," She said suddenly. "Stop looking at me like that." This is one of the few times I had ever heard her that irritated. Where was the woman I had fallen in love with?

I glanced away only for a moment. "Looking at you like what?"

"Like I'm about to break or like I'm some sort of sad nuisance." Elizabeth sighed when I didn't say anything and she pushed her plate away. I didn't know what to say.

"I have a meeting with my brother today. I don't know when I'll be back," Her voice dropped when she spoke again. It was needless to say that it was concerning her family's estate and titles. That look of sorrow took over her face once again and she looked down.

"It's fine. I have a business trip and I leave tonight." Elizabeth's face shot up and she looked directly at me, her eyes glossy with tears as they had been for quite some time.

"When will you be back?" Her expression grew soft and she avoided eye contact.

"I don't know, maybe weeks. Maybe months." She bit her lip, nodding slightly. "I'm going to be in France." I knew France was a touchy subject ever since Putain.

"Why didn't you tell me ahead of time?" She didn't sound angry or rude. Elizabeth's voice was laced with sadness and it was slightly shaky.

"I didn't know how to tell you."

"Oh.. Well, what time do you leave?"

"I can wait until you get back?"

".. That would be nice." Looking away awkwardly, she smiled very faintly. "I should get going." I hated this. I could never tell anymore if we were on good terms or not.

She stood up and I had a small debate with myself whether I should walk her out or not. After a moment, we made eye contact. Elizabeth left after I made no effort to walk with her. I sighed once she had gone.

-Time Skip to a handful of hours later-

I had my things packed and ready to go by now and despite Sebastian's advice, I waited for her.

I sat in the lounge, drinking tea. I wanted her to see that I am still here for her. I couldn't just leave her like that. I still love her and I want our marriage to work out.

My wife was not even twenty-four yet lately she lived her life as if she was an old woman. Sleep, eat, read, work, and repeat.

My thoughts were interrupted by the sound of her voice. "Ciel.." She said softly. "Do you have to leave tonight..?"

"Why, what do you have in mind?" I answered. My words came out more cruel than I had intentioned.

"Oh.. It's nothing," Elizabeth looked away, her brows slightly furrowed. "I suppose you should be going.."

"Lizzy," I stood up and hesitated to put my arms around her. The beautiful blonde looked at me, waiting for me to speak. "I can stay if I leave first thing tomorrow?" In response, she shook her head.
