Ciel's P.O.V.
*****
Her tears. Lately that's all I see. I have made her cry every single time that I've seen her for the longest of times. I want that to stop, maybe staying away from her will help.
I made the mess, and I have to clean it up. I just didn't think the process would be this painful. I want to leave her, it would be the best, right? Trust me, I would. If I wasn't so selfish, I love her too much to leave.
What's wrong with me?
I sighed at the thought, wanting to bang my head against the desk. "How the hell am I going to fix this?" I thought out loud, staring at my paperwork which I had paid no attention to for the past hour.
Then a morbid question entered my mind. "Will I be able to fix this?"
Sebastian barged in, interrupting my thoughts as always. "What is it?" I questioned, not having the patience for him today.
"This morning's newspaper just came in, my lord.. And I highly doubt it would be to your liking, or Lady Elizabeth's for that matter." He spoke, slowly placing the paper onto my desk.
"Sebastian, I don't have time for what the press says.. Nor do I care. Now leave me, I'm busy-" Then the butler cut me off. How rude.
"Someone is digging up your past. A past that I'm sure will send your Lady in tears." He explained, holding up the paper.
Sebastian cleared his throat then began to read.

PHANTOMHIVE DIVORCE?
The Earl of Phantomhive, Ciel, and his wife, The Marquess, Elizabeth have been reported to no longer be living together. It is believed that their son is staying with Lady Elizabeth.
The big question is: Are they getting a divorce? Or are they already divorced?
It has been a while since the young couple has been reported to have troubles, but it definitely isn't the first time.
Before the two were married, a Japanese man named Hantai Kare-No was seemingly pursing Elizabeth. Kare-no ran a rival toy company to that of Funtom Co. during the time of his stay in England. He was a successful business man at the time who was in his early twenties, Ciel and Elizabeth were eighteen and nineteen at the time.
During this period, Ciel and Elizabeth were very rarely seen together and he was usually away on business. Meanwhile Hantai and Elizabeth seemed fairly close, almost joined at the hip. It was speculated at the time that the two were planning to marry, leaving Phantomhive in the dust.
Shortly after a newspaper article claiming that Hantai had met someone (in the picture it had clearly been Elizabeth,) she disappeared for nearly a month. No one knew about her whereabouts, not even her then fiancé, Ciel, nor her parents. Hantai seemed to be off the grid during that time, making very rare appearances in town, but Ciel seemed to go on as usual.
When the Marquess did return, it was only to find her friend dead under mysterious conditions. Upon Elizabeth's arrival and the death, sometime did happen where they seemed fine, but weren't seen together for a long while. Although months later, Ciel and her officially called off their engagement. She seemingly went into a depression, almost disappearing again. As to why, the two never made it clear to the public. However, the two did resume their relationship after a year.
Some speculate that Ciel had something to so with the death of Hantai, that he killed him out of jealousy. Perhaps Elizabeth loved Kare-No rather than her fiancé?
No one can be truly sure of what happened all those years ago, but perhaps what is currently going on can be uncovered.

"My advice to you is to contact Lady Elizabeth, and take her out for a date night. It will hopefully, but not surely, get the press to back off some.. And hopefully it will help with some of your marital issues." The demon set the paper down, his gaze on me.
I glared at him, rolling my eyes some. "Set up a carriage, I'm paying her a visit today."

When I arrived to her Manor later on that day, it was her that opened the door, not a butler or a staff member. "I'm guessing you know why I'm here." I stated, looking at her.
She looked pretty today. Golden hair in a half up-do, a baby pink dress that hugged her frame on her small waist. Admittedly, I looked her up and down-subtly. As subtle as a person with one eye can. Though I did notice something that made me feel a little guilty..I could tell she'd been crying. A frown touched my lips.
Her lips pursed a little, but she gave a nod. "Yes, I'm aware. I was expecting you in fact. We do have a lot to talk about regarding this matter. Are we-?" She cut herself off, blushing lightly. "I'm sorry, come on in. I should have let you in earlier. How rude of me." And with that she stepped aside.
"It's no problem, Elizabeth." I told her, walking in after her, then Sebastian shut the door after the both of us.
The mood was a little awkward if I must admit, and it was Sebastian that actually spoke first. "Young Master, Lady Elizabeth, would you like me to proceed alone to the Estate? I take it you two need time alone together? I trust you'd both be taken care of by the staff here. I could even take the child for the night if you'd like."
I looked at Elizabeth, feeling awkward at the thought of spending the night at her place, here. We were teenagers the last time we slept in the same house but in separate beds. Awkward, though but I think it'd be worse if we slept in the same bed.
"I'd like to keep Vincent here." She answered rather quickly, pushing a lock of her blonde hair behind her ear. "But.. Ciel's welcome to stay the night if he'd like, as are you, Sebastian."
They both looked at me now. "Well.. I guess it's up to you, really, Elizabeth." I told the two, shrugging a little.
"I think you two should stay, we haven't talked yet, nor have you seen Vincent. You don't even have you coat off, it'll be late by the time you leave here. Plus the drive there.." She answered.
"Alright, I suppose we'll stay." I nodded. "Thank you for the hospitality."
"We're married, it's the least I can do." Elizabeth looked down, I frowned.
