I walk into a dimly lit room which smelled like medicine. In the middle of the room there was a white bed surrounded by lots of tubes. Lying on that bed was Tanner. His mom motioned for his dad and sister to leave the room. Before his mom left she turned to me and gave me a hug. Gingerly I walked to the bed.
"Tanner?"
"Kameron. Kameron where is she?" He rasped and my eyes filled with tears.
"It's me I'm right here." I reached out to grab his hand. "Oh god Tanner." I choked.
"I'll be fine now that you're here."
"I won't leave you. I love you." A tear rolled down my cheek and landed on his hand.
"Get in here" he said patting a space on the bed next to him. I complied. And crawled up next to him. I got as close as I could without hurting him. "I love you Kameron. Please tell me you know that."
"I know Tanner. I'm so sorry this happened to you."
"Stop. I'm so lucky."
"Lucky? How can you say you're lucky?"
"I'm with a girl that I love but don't deserve. But this beautiful, amazing girl says she loves me. And I don't understand why."
"I love you because you're you. And that's not someone you're afraid to be. And you, you treat me right and not like any of my moms old boyfriends. And when you complement me I can tell you actually mean it. You make me laugh more than anyone else can and I'm my best me when I'm with you. And when you're gone nothing feels right until you're with me again." Then for the first time I leaned down and kissed him. He kissed me back. He kissed me like he never had before. It was a long kiss. And then he kissed me more, for about 5 minutes he kissed me.
"I love you so much Kameron. I never want to let you go." He felt around and then he grabbed my hand. Then he opened his eyes. "You even look beautiful when you're crying." Then his eyes closed again. "If I die. You're going to be the last thing I see."
"Stop! You're not going to die! You'll be okay. Tanner I won't let you die. You're going to stay." I squeezed his hand tighter and cuddled up close to him. "I love you" I whispered.
"I love you."
"I love you." We went on like this for hours. I don't remember exactly when we fell asleep.
