"Hey" I texted Tanner.
"Hey. Tonight was awesome."
"Yeah it was."
"Dancing with you was really fun. I'm so glad you asked me to the dance."
"I'm so glad you liked it. Umm so what time do you want to meet tomorrow?"
"I don't know how about around 1:00?"
"Sounds great! Well I'd better go to bed. I had a great time with you today."
"Me too good night." The next morning I woke up at 9:45. Lydia was still asleep so I climbed out of bed and went down stairs. I ate and then went back upstairs to work on homework for a little while. Around noon I got ready. I straightened my hair and put on a swimming tee shirt and some shorts. I told my dad that I would be going to Kate's with Lydia. They both agreed to cover for me. I snuck out the back and ran to the pond.
As soon as I saw him I sped up. He saw me coming and I slowed a bit as he started jogging towards me. When I reached him he pulled me into a hug. Not a oh why hello there darling kind of hug. More like an oh my gosh I'm never going to see you again so I'm going to hug you forever kind of hug.
"Hi." I whispered into his shirt.
"Hello." He whispered back.
"What are we doing here?"
"I want to talk to you."
"About what?"
"Well I want to know more about you. Do you wanna play 20 questions?"
"Sure. You start."
"Umm ok. How do you find it in yourself to see the beauty in everyone?"
"Umm well I never really noticed that I do that but I guess you can always find something beautiful you might just have to dig for it."
"Have you ever dyed your hair?"
"Umm no why?"
"You're hair is at first glance brown but then you see amber high lights. And when you're in the sun some parts are pure gold." I chuckled. "Lydia isn't your real sister is she?"
"No her dad married my mom. All of my brothers are biological though."
"You seem to act like you've known each other for years when did you meet?"
"Last May. Her dad proposed that Christmas."
"Wow. So are you guys close?"
"I tell her everything and she tells me everything."
"Did you have a boyfriend before you moved to this small town?"
"No I never have."
"Really?"
"Yes really and that sir counts as a question."
"Okay okay. Did you really have fun last night?"
"Yes. It was amazing. I loved it."
"Good I'm glad. Would you do it again?"
"In a heartbeat."
"Did you like slow dancing with me?"
"I did."
"How bad was I?"
"You danced quite beautifully."
"Thank you. Did my hands on your hips make you uncomfortable?"
"No... I was very aware of them though."
"Is that good or bad?"
"It's a good thing."
"Good. Kameron the last thing I want to do is make you uncomfortable. You know that right?"
"Yes."
"Good. You know that all I want is for you to be happy right?
"Yes, I know."
"Will you promise me you'll tell me if you ever aren't happy?"
"Yes. I promise Tanner."
"Thank you. Do you like it when I hug you or does it just weird you out?"
"I like it."
"What about when I kissed you?"
"I liked that too."
"Was that your first kiss?"
"Yes."
"Would you let me do it again?"
"Yes. I'd love that." And just like that he grabbed my waist and pulled me close. He bent his head down and t stood in my toes. When his lips met mine he kissed me like I was oxygen and he was drowning.
