So... My inspiration for this one? I went up to the snow with my best friend gabsters2 and yeah. However neither of us were fortunate to fall in love in 6 hours we had lots of fun. And I have to thank her. She is a lot of my inspiration for everything I do... So although she is most likely the only one reading this, I love her very much.
My friends begged me that day to go with them. That was really the last thing I wanted to do, to go up to the snow and freeze my ass off. Because that's what people like to do with their lives. Later in the day when I was coming home, I knew that I was glad to go.
"Come on Mall, PLEEEAAASSSEE..." My best friend Callie begged me. I huffed.
"Fine, but I had better get some damn good coffee on the way home." I negotiated with her.
"Fine." She said. "You never know, you might meet your Justin..." She said dreamily. Justin was her fiancé, they were the classic love story. They met in 8th grade and then he moved schools and she was heartbroken. Then we came to high school and in senior year he came back. Their connection was immediate and they started dating; I was there cheering them on the whole time. I've always had a hard time dating. I mean I think I am pretty attractive; I think, but I can't tell someone how I feel. And then I worry about everything, so I've never really been in a relationship. It bugs the crap out of her, so she always tries to set me up with people she knows; she even had me go to speed dating with her.
"Yeah. Sure." I said walking to my closet. "What the hell do I wear?" I asked her annoyed.
"Something warm." She said hurriedly. "Sorry I gotta go. Justin just got home from work."
"What time?"
"Just be ready. I will text you when we leave."
"Ugh!" I hung up and threw my phone in the bed. I pulled my jeans on and my Dartmouth sweatshirt. Then ran my fingers through my short chestnut hair and threw on my beanie. I looked at myself in the mirror. I better not be cold. I grabbed some gloves and dug out my black pea coat. I sat down at my desk and opened my computer.
I need to write.
After I graduated college, I went to school to get my teaching degree and I got that. Now I teach eighth grade language arts at a local middle school. I love it, but I want to be a writer. Ever since I was a kid I had a knack for writing fiction. I love it. I got the opportunity to send in a manuscript so I am working violently trying to finish something. I sat down and started typing like there was no tomorrow. My phone went off.
On our way my friend-Callie
I read quickly.
Okay my dear, see you soon. - mall
I grabbed my coat, packed up my purse and sat on the chair next to my door waiting for them. She rang the buzzer and I ran down the stairs. Let's just get this over with. Callie was standing at the bottom of the stairs in her famous Selection sweatshirt. Her honey blonde hair was tied back and her glasses were spotted with the mist falling from the clouds above. She hooked her arm in mine and I opened the car door ducking my head to get in. Justin was sitting in the drivers seat, his curly dirty blonde was covered in his trademark beanie. He tapped his fingers on the steering wheel happily and hummed to the song that was playing on the radio.
"Hey Mallory!" He said without looking back at me.
"Hey." I mumbled before looking out the window. The rain got harder and I watched the drops slide down the window. I started think about things to write and got so distracted that I didn't realize that we were already up a mountain with a heavy snowfall raining down on us.
