The Picture of the Boy Taking a Picture of Me

I was struggling with my chopsticks, and this is one aspect of my life that I will never forget because I cannot for the life of me use chopsticks. They slip from my fingers, I grip too hard and they fall, or I'm not gripping hard enough, and I always fail. No matter what. Today was no different. It was the same Chinese takeout, from the same Panda Express I had lunch at every day for now six months. You could think that by now I would at least be relatively skilled at the practice of chopsticks, but I wasn't. I grunted in frustration as the chow mien slipped through the wooden fingers until I gave up completely, switching to a fork and moving on with my life. I finally took a bite and looked around at all the people in the malls food court. I saw the mothers with screaming children in strollers, toddlers running amok in the hallways and those darn teenage girls that I was a few years ago, wearing far too much makeup and not enough clothes for the ass face boys that would glare at them for a few moments. Then my eyes rested on a beautiful specimen. He was tall and tanned to perfection with dark brown hair and chocolate brown eyes that I would swim in. He was wearing black jeans, a white Thrasher tshirt and a red long sleeve flannel. My heart skipped a beat and I pulled out my phone to text my best friend.

Cutie Pie over here at the food court. I'm gunna try and get a pic

Phew
Girl... Swoop him up before it's too late

I scoffed and looked back to where he had been sitting just moments before, but he was gone. Then I looked back at the picture I had taken. He was gorgeous, one of the totally conventionally 'heshouldbeamodelforhollisterbecausehessohot' kind of guys, but I didn't mind. Beauty is beauty. I zoomed up on the picture to get a better look and there, even in the grain of the shitty picture I should see his phone, pointed in my direction.

He had been taking a picture of me at the same time I was taking a picture of him.

"Welcome to Forever Christmas... We have some new selections on the shelf in the back... Remember only 177 days until Christmas!" I said cheerily from behind the counter. I worked at the shop in the mall that sold Christmas decorations all year long. It was hot; the middle of July, with fans blowing all over the small store and Frank Sinatra belting Christmas tunes. It was a strange store with heavy green carpet and red, green and gold wallpaper on the walls. It looked vaguely as if 'Santa' had threw up on the walls very obnoxiously.

"Do you have any ornaments possibly in the shape of chopsticks?" I heard a voice say. I looked up from my inventory list and saw him. The boy from the food court. My mouth went dry and I gulped loudly.

"Um... I'm not sure, but if we did they would be in that section over there." I said pointing to the international section.

"You should take lessons or something..." He said with a smirk before tapping on the counter and walking away. I smiled and returned my focus back to the pages of the list. I heard something being set on the counter and looked up. He was standing there expectantly with a pair of chopsticks and a smile.

"So I take it we had chopsticks?" I asked sweeping them in my hands and ringing them up for the cute boy.

"Yes you did..."
