Draco POV

"How do those feel, love?" the seamstress asked.

"They feel alright, maybe a little bit large in the arms," I responded.

"Hmmm... Alright, just a second, young man, you wait right here," and then she bustled away into the back. Just as she did, another boy my age walked in. He looked very scared as he glanced around.

"Hello! I'm Draco, I'm about to start at Hogwarts!"

He jumped and looked at me. When he did, I was shocked. He was gorgeous, with big green eyes, messy raven hair, and big round glasses that were taped in the nose.

"Harry," he said nervously.

"Don't be nervous, you'll love it at school! I hope to be in Slytherin and I want to be on the quidditch team too. What about you? Ravenclaw? Hufflepuff? Gryffindor? What about quidditch? I want to be the seeker."

He just stared at me, mouth hanging open. Before he could respond, the seamstress bustled back in and got back to work. When she was finished with my robes, I paid, then went to leave, stopping to talk to the boy.

"I'll see you in school!"

He just nodded, then I left to go find mother.

"Mother?" I said one day.

"Yes, dear?"

"I met a boy in Madam Malkin's, and I can't get him out of my head! What's wrong with me?"

She laughed and pulled me over into her side. "Nothing! You probably just have a crush on him already."

"But that's wrong, Father said that was wrong for two boys or two girls to like each other?"

"Your father is very opinionated, Dragon. You can like and eventually love anyone you want to, just don't tell him right now, okay?"

"Yes, mother."

"Now," she said. "Tell me about this boy. What does he look like?"

"He's got these big green eyes, messy raven hair, and these glasses that are big and round, but they have tape in the center, I think they've been broken before," I said really fast.

She just laughed and smiled, a knowing look in her eyes. "I'm sure you'll see him then."

After that day, I couldn't get him out of my mind. I never told father, scared of what he would do, but I constantly told mother about him. Soon enough, though, it was time to leave for school. I packed my trunk, sliding my broomstick in, even though first years aren't supposed to have them. I was ready early, so I sat on my bed and read until it was time to go.

"Draco!" my father yelled from downstairs. "Come down here! The house elves will get your trunk and broom!"

"Coming, father!" I looked around my room for one last time. The next time I would be back was winter break. I ran downstairs so that father wouldn't get mad at me, closing my door as I left. By the time I was down there, my stuff was already next to him. I cast my eyes down as I approached as he didn't like to be looked directly at.

"Are you ready, Draco?"

"Yes sir," I answered, knowing that even if I wasn't, it wouldn't matter. He took my hand and we apparated away, showing up on the platform. The scarlet train glimmered in the sunlight from the windows on the ceiling and people bustled about.

"Go on and find Crabbe and Goyle," he nudged me. "Find a compartment towards the prefects."

"Yes, sir." I wandered away, weaving through the people. I didn't want to find them, but father was making me. I really didn't like them very much, but whatever he said went.

I found them by the front of the train, and we went to grab a compartment. As we did, we passed a boy with big green eyes and messy raven hair pushing through, struggling with his trunk. He looked up as I passed, and I recognized him as the boy from the store.

He didn't acknowledge me, which hurt, but I figured I would go talk to him later.

Once we found a compartment, we were joined by Pansy and Blaise. We all sat and talked about how excited we were for school. After a bit, I got bored, so I got up to go find the boy.

"Where are you going, Draco?" Goyle asked.

"I'm going to go explore the train," I responded.

"Oh, Crabbe and I will join you!"

I groaned on the inside. If they came with, I would have to be a complete arse. "No, it's really-"

"No, it's a good idea!" Crabbe joined in.

I sighed. "Fine."

As we walked, they started talking about stupid things like candy, so I tuned them out and looked for the boy. I didn't find him until the very last compartment, where he was sitting with a red headed boy and a girl.

I opened the door and saw the boy perk up as he recognized me. "Well, what do we have here? Red hair, freckles, and a hand me down robe? Are you a Weasley?" I asked.

He nodded, and I smiled. It must have looked like a smirk because he glared at me, which was slightly off putting. I didn't recognize the girl and I didn't know the boys name, so I asked them too.

"Who are you two?"

The girl turned her nose up. "I'm Hermione Granger."

The boy looked down. "Harry Potter," he mumbled.

My jaw dropped. "Harry Potter?" Crabbe and Goyle snickered behind me. I didn't know what to do. I wanted to tell him how much I had read about him and how incredible it was that he had beaten You-Know-Who, but I couldn't. My father had told me exactly what to say should I meet him.

"Well... Don't think you're all high and mighty, Potter. You don't rule the school!" I turned, slamming the door, and left. As I did, my heart broke as I thought about the way his face had fallen. Crabbe and Goyle were laughing like idiots behind me, and it was the most annoying thing I had ever heard. "Shut up!" I snapped at them.

I spent the rest of the train ride in silence, staring out the window. I would talk to him separately at school, and ask him to be my friend.

When we got to the school and had to wait outside the Great Hall, I knew it was my chance. I slipped away, walking over where he was with Ron and Hermione.

"Harry?" I asked.

He turned around, his face hardened. "What?"

"I was just wanting to tell you that it'll help to have the proper friends in the world. I can help you with that." I stuck out my hand, but he shook his head.

"I'm good with who I have right now, thanks."

My heart fell. "Fine. You make your own choices." I turned on my heel and left, tears threatening to fall. I didn't expect someone I had heard great things about to say that to me. On that day, I vowed to pretend that I hated him and his friends no matter how I felt about Harry.
