It started in fourth year, with a simple panic attack. That's when everything changed.
Draco had always been in love with Harry, since he met him in Madame Malkin's. He pretended that it was hatred because it made the pain easier to deal with. He ne...
When I walked into the common room, I saw Pansy sitting on the couch with one of her friends. When she saw me, she excused herself from the conversation and walked towards me.
"Hey, where'd you go last night?" she asked. "I looked for you for awhile, but you weren't in the common room, and Snape didn't know where you were either."
"Oh, right, I got back late. Harry took me on a walk last night," I added when I saw her confused expression. "And we ended up just sitting by the lake for a bit. It was nice."
She nodded. "Oh. You missed him a lot, didn't you."
I smiled sadly. "Yeah. I missed you too. I wish we could've hung out, but... you know what was going on."
She wrapped her arm around my waist gently. "I know. I understand. Just as long as you don't completely ditch me for your crush this year," she teased.
I laughed. "You know, if everything this year goes as I want, then he'll be more than a crush."
She rolled her eyes. "You always get everything you want, Draco. Some of us... aren't so lucky," she trailed off a bit as we walked into the dining hall, eyes glazed over as she looked at something. I tried to see what she was looking at, but I couldn't, so I squeezed her closer to me.
"What's wrong, Pansy? What are you talking about? And what are you looking at?"
She shook her head, and put a smile on her face that I could tell was forced. "Nothing. I'm fine! Let's go back to you, after all, you're the king ferret."
I rolled my eyes and laughed at her, walking over to the Slytherin table with my arm still around her shoulders, and hers around my waist. I felt eyes on me as we walked, and when I looked over, I saw Harry was watching us. I sent a smile in his direction, but he didn't return it, only glared a bit and looked away. I frowned, wondering what was up with him. I wondered momentarily if I had done anything, but I shook the thought, telling myself to find him and talk to him later.

Harry POV, Same Time
I was sitting at the table waiting for Ron and Hermione or Draco to get there, lost in thought, when I heard Draco laughing. I looked up towards the doors, and saw him walking with Pansy, her arm around his waist and his around his shoulders. As he threw his head back and laughed, I felt a twinge of jealousy pull at my heart. Even though I knew he wasn't actually mine, and I had no claim over him, it still hurt to see him walking like that with her after what had happened last night near the lake. I frowned as I saw him pull her closer, and walk towards the Slytherin table. My heart felt like it fell down to my stomach as I watched him walk away from my table. He turned towards me as he did, and a beautiful smile graced his face when he saw me, but I glared slightly and looked away. A part of me chided myself for acting like this, but a part of me also felt reasonable- I felt like he was leading me on. As I kept watching the two together, I couldn't believe that I let myself think that I ever had a chance with him, and I found myself growing angrier and angrier. I eventually pushed aside my plate and left. Classes didn't start for another 45 minutes, so I just walked around, trying to take all the hidden passages to get around so that I didn't have to see anyone. While I did, I had a conversation with myself in my head, one side telling myself that he did like me, even if just as a friend, because otherwise he wouldn't have done all the things that he had for me before. The other side echoed my thoughts from earlier, saying that he was leading me on just to tear me down and leave me behind. After a while, I cooled down enough to head back into the main halls, and did right as the bell rang to head to class, which was History of Magic. At least, I thought, I won't have to see Draco until double Potions.
History of Magic passed by slowly, but by the time that Potions came around, I was wishing I was back in that classroom listening to Professor Binns drone on and on about things that I wouldn't remember anyways. When Hermione, Ron, and I walked down to the dungeon and were standing by the door, Draco walked up to me, looking concerned.
"Hey, what was up with you this morning? You didn't look too happy."
I glared again, and he frowned, opening his mouth to say something else when thankfully, the door opened and I was saved from answering. Ron and Hermione looked between me and him, taking in my upset face and his confused expression. They shared a glance, then followed me into the class, leaving him standing, alone and confused.
As petty as it might have been, I felt too hurt by what I had seen that morning to think about the situation rationally, so I continued ignoring him, and I refused to talk to Ron and Hermione about what was going on. And as much as I hated to admit it, that week and a half were hard on me, but also probably good for Draco and I.
