Draco POV, at lunch

I wandered to where Hermione told me to meet her right after DADA with Umbridge... she was insane, and awful to Harry. It made me burn seeing her tell him that he was just a stupid boy, desperate for attention. I wanted to stand up for him, but she knew my father, and if he found out... I shuddered, not wanting to think about it, and instead focused on getting to Hermione quickly. For the first time in almost two weeks, I had hope that Harry could be my friend again. I wasn't sure about a relationship, but as long as he was my friend I could be happy. Hermione was waiting outside the classroom, leaning against the wall.

"Hey, Draco!" she greeted quietly, giving me a smile. "You're looking a lot better."

"Thanks. Having hope that Harry could be my friend again is really helping, I guess."

"That's good."

"So, what're some ideas you have? I'm kinda desperate for him to come back to me..."

She paused. "Uh, well, why don't you go into the classroom for a minute and wait there? I have someone I need to talk to about something first, it won't take long."

I nodded and swung the door open, taking in the unused desks. I found one that wasn't falling apart and sat on the top, swinging my legs like a little kid. I could hear voices start up outside after a minute, but I couldn't make out who it was. They stopped, and the door swung open also. I looked up, fully expecting Hermione, but instead Harry was there, staring at me.

"Harry, go in the room. Come on," Hermione's disembodied voice floated into the room, and I could practically hear her eyeroll.

"But-" he objected, looking back to where she must've been. My heart sunk.

"Did I hurt you so much that you don't even want to talk to me, Harry?" I asked quietly.

He looked back at me, emerald eyes filling with sadness. "No, it's just-"

"Just what?" I spat, looking at my swinging feet.

I heard his footsteps get closer, and then the door swinging shut with a bang. I jumped and looked up, seeing Harry looking at the door with a look of betrayal. He pounded his fist on the door, calling Hermione's name.

"No, Harry, I won't let you out. Talk to Draco. Tell him what's happened. Figure this out. The door will unlock when you've done that," she called, then there came the sound of footsteps fading away. Harry pounded on the door a second more, than his fist fell weakly and he leaned his head against the door and let out a sigh.

"Bloody hell, Hermione," I heard him whisper. My heart fell.

"Well, if you're so desperate to get out," I said, swallowing thickly, "you might as well do what she said, and talk to me."

He banged his head against the door. "I can't talk to you!" he half shouted.

"Why not? What did I do? Please, it's killing me." He was silent. I took a breath, and started to talk. "Well, if you won't tell me what I did, I'm going to tell you what's been up with me. I can't sleep. Or eat. I can barely pull myself out of bed to go to class. I can't focus. I have Pansy take all my notes for me. And part of it is the fact that not knowing what I did is eating me up, and the part of it is the fact that neither are you. You aren't doing well Harry, and it hurts me to know that... that I'm apart of that. I caused you this pain. And I don't know why, and that hurts too. I just... I want you back, Harry. You're my best friend."

He stayed facing the wall, and scoffed. "Right. I'm your best friend?"

I stared at his back, confused. "What? Yes, you are?"

"Sure didn't feel like that when you were cozied up with Pansy and went to sit at the Slytherin table with her even though I was alone."

I laughed. "That's what this is about? The fact that I was talking to Pansy, my other best friend, who has been for my entire life? Why do you even care?"

"I don't," he objected.

"You clearly do, if you stopped talking to me because of her. I thought you liked her? I thought she was your friend."

"She is."

"Than why did it bother you?"

He whirled around and stalked up to me. "You have no clue? Really? No clue that I've been staring at you, taking you in, finding excuses to touch you so that I can feel the sparks that rush through my body? No clue that whenever you laugh or smile or hug me, it hurts, because I know that no matter how hard I try, you'll never feel the same way about me? No idea that when you walk into a room that I'm in, I get butterflies in my stomach, thumping around insanely? No idea that when I saw you and Pansy so close together, it made me burn with jealousy and then hate myself for getting so possessive? You had no idea that I felt led on?"

I stared at him, my mind whirring with the information. I was confused, I was hopeful, I was scared, I was a mixture of different emotions and feelings, my heart was racing. "What... why did you feel led on?"

"I mean that I thought I had a chance with you, all those late night walks and cuddling and hugs and touches and looks and compliments... I thought that maybe, you were in love with me like I'm in love with you!" he screamed.

My mind stopped, and mulled over his last words. I thought that maybe, you were in love with me like I'm in love with you. Harry was in love with me. I could actually kiss him. I could hold his hand. I could cuddle him. Buy him extravagant gifts. Take him on dates. Do everything I had dreamed about since first year. I lost myself in my thoughts, thinking of the things I wanted to do with him.

"And now, you know the truth, that I'm gay, and I'm in love with you, and you don't ever want to see me again. At least you know the truth now." He turned away, and the movement rattled me out of my thoughts.

"Harry," I whispered, stepping closer to him.

He turned back to me, eyes brimming with tears. "What?" he gasped out.

"You know, I happen to not be in love with Pansy," I began. "I mean, she's lesbian, and I'm gay, so that wouldn't work out. She just pretends to be obsessed with me so that our parents don't murder us. And, you know, there's this boy that I happen to be in love with," by now, I was standing right in front of him, so close that I could feel the heat radiating off of him. "He's got raven hair," I reached up and moved aside his hair so that I could see his eyes, "and these stunning green eyes, that are like a forest. And these circular glasses, that really make his cheekbones stand out, and when I saw him on the train, I thought I might melt because of those cheekbones. And he's got these lips, these full pink lips that I've wanted to kiss for a very long time," I trailed off as I looked at his lips, leaning even closer so that our breaths were mingling. "And... I've never taken the chance," I leaned even closer. "Until now," I whispered, closing the few millimeters remaining.

As our lips connected, I heard a distant clicking sound, but I ignored it, too focused on Harry's lips on mine, moving slowly against mine in a gentle kiss, those lips that were so soft and sweet, and his hands on my hips, keeping me steady, which I was grateful for, otherwise I might've fallen through the floor, and his strong muscles that were hidden under his baggy shirt pressing into my chest. We stayed like that, just wrapped up in each other for what felt like an infinity, until we finally broke apart and took time to breath.

"Draco," Harry whispered.

"Yes?"

"How long have you been waiting to do that?"

"Since I saw a little boy with broken glasses standing in Madame Malkin's, looking lost and confused, but still very attractive."

He smiled, and wrapped his arms around me. "Well, you certainly took your time, didn't you?"

I smiled, "Yes, I did, didn't I?" Then our lips reconnected, and I tuned everything out, focused solely on the boy I was so desperately in love with.
