Hermione POV

I was floating. Everything was light inside me, and my heart was happy as Pansy and I walked through the hall, hand in hand. I couldn't keep a smile off my face- every time I looked at her, holding my hand, I got all giddy inside. Totally irrational, though I was too happy to care for the time being. We stopped at the split in the corridor where Slytherins head down to dungeons and Gryffindors keep heading up to the tower. Pansy looked at me before she let go off my hand and smiled shyly.

"I'm happy, Hermione. Thank you."

I laughed. "I'm happy too, Pansy. Thank you. And, of course, you're welcome."

She leaned forward, kissed my cheek again, and squeezed my hand. "I'll see you later, Hermione."

I sighed. "Why do you keep kissing my cheek?"

She blanched. "What?"

"You keep kissing my cheek. It's rather annoying, really. I have a better idea, though, don't worry."

"Hermione-" I cut her off by pressing my lips against hers, and she smiled against them. They stayed pressed together gently until she broke away, laughing. "I suppose that makes more sense."

"Yes, it does. I'll see you later, Pansy." I turned away and started going up the stairs, turning around where the spiral started and watched Pansy heading down the stairs, catching a glimpse of her hand moving up to her lips. I smiled, and sprinted up the stairs in my excitement.

When I burst into the common room, Ron and Harry were sitting in the usual couch, and I flew towards them. "Harry! Ronald!"

They looked up and yelped when they saw my rushing towards them. "Hermione!"

"Hello!" I smiled still. The two seemed to notice, because Ron cocked his head at me.

"What the bloody hell has you so happy?" He asked me as I plopped on the couch next to them.

"Oh, well, Pansy just asked me to be her girlfriend when we went to the Great Hall, and I'm just very happy."

Harry laughed and hugged me. "Congratulations, Hermione!"

Ron frowned at me. "What?" I asked.

"Why does everyone around me have to be gay?" He huffed. Harry broke out laughing, as did I, and Ron soon joined.

Pansy POV

"DRACO!" I screeched as I sprinted into his room. I heard a screech from the corner of the room, and turned to see him standing in the doorway of his bathroom without a shirt on.

"Pansy! What the fuck!" He yelled.

"Oh, relax Draco, it's not like I'm going to start salivating at the sight of my best friend without a shirt on." I tossed him a shirt and plopped on his bed. "Besides, I'm recently taken."

His eyes widened. "You asked Hermione out?" I nodded, and he screeched again. "Oh my god, all we need is Ron and Blaise to date and then we'll be set!"

I rolled my eyes. "Draco, you know Blaise is dating Astoria right now."

"I was joking, Pansy. Chill." He sat next to me, and sighed. "Anyways, congratulations. But... what are we supposed to do about Umbridge? Now she has two ways to make sure we do what she wants for this stupid Inqusitorial Squad."

I groaned. "Yeah. Damn Umbridge."

"Damn judgmental parents." He huffed. "It's frustrating, Pansy. I know that my mom doesn't mind at all. But if I told my father... he'd pretend to be supportive, but make me use Harry so that You Know Who could kill him. I can't do that to him, so we have to remain mostly quiet about it, and it makes me so sad. I just want to hold his hand in the hall, and I want to kiss him all the time, but I can't. It's bad enough people know we're friends. My father sent me this letter today." He pulled a rumpled piece of parchment out of his pocket, and handed it to me.
