Harry POV, a month later
Draco ran up to me, panting and looking nervous. "Harry," he mumbled, interlocking our hands.
"Yeah?" I was worried already, my heart pounding as I took in his disheveled appearance. "What is it?"
"Come with me," he said, already pulling me along through the halls. Eventually I realized we were headed toward the room of requirement, and I looked at him again. He was frantic as he pulled me along.
"Dray, what's wrong?" I asked again. He shook his head and continued on.
When we got to the room, he pushed the door open a second after it appeared, and plopped down on the couch with a sigh.
"Umbridge," he sighed, "is a bitch."
I smirked. "Really? I hadn't noticed. Please, tell me more."
His mouth quirked a bit and he huffed. "She's making a crew called the Inquisitorial Squad. 'It's a huge honor,'" he imitated her. "'You'd make your father proud.'"
"What does this squad do then, if it's such a big honor?"
He laid down before he started speaking again, placing his head in my lap and lifting my hands to his hair. "She suspects you're up to something."
"Well, she's not wrong," I replied, thinking back to the last DA meeting we'd had, and the blue lights that had jetted through the room as we practiced stunning spells.
"But she wants to get you in trouble. She says you're brainwashing people, making them break rules by using your name. She wants to catch you, so that's what the Inquisitorial Squad is for. Students who can get close to you and figure out what you're doing."
"Oh," was all I had to say. I understood why he was so panicked now. "What'd you say?"
"No. Well, at first. When I did, she told me that she knew about you and me, and that if I didn't join, she'd tell my father. She said that if he found out from her, it'd be even worse than if he found out from a student because she'd make it sound like you were brainwashing me too, making me fail my classes, slack off on responsibility."
I took a breath. "You had to say yes because otherwise, he'd find out. And we agreed to be private about our relationship so that neither of us would be in trouble. How'd she even find out?"
He sighed. "I have no idea. She probably used veritaserum on Pansy. She said that Umbridge gave her tea and said essentially the same thing to her."
I groaned. "Well, I suppose you'll have to sabotage the investigation then."
"You trying to brainwash me, Mr. Potter?" Draco asked, smiling at me as he looked up at me.
"Perhaps, Mr. Malfoy, I am."
He laughed and relaxed into my lap again. "I don't understand why the Ministry doesn't believe you."
"Because they want to believe that the person who made their lives miserable before can never do that again, and if that means pegging a 15 year old boy as a liar, they'll do it. Who'd believe me over them?"
"I do," he whispered, shutting his eyes. "I believe you, Harry."
"I know." I wondered what made him shut his eyes as he said that, but I knew that he would tell me when he was ready.

Draco POV, That Night
"Draco." his cold voice called my name as I tried to sneak past the dining hall. I knew it was futile, though. He always knew.
