"One more set, Alec. Come on, man," my brother Seth tells me. Seth, my soon to be second-in-command and brother, looks hopeful at me. He's trying to distract me. Distract me from the two facts that I must face; 1) I'm going to be Alpha soon 2) I haven't found my mate yet.

"No, I'm going for a run. We've been at it all morning, so no," I tell him and begin walking into the woods. The whole pack has been stressed and on my back, so I understand why my brother would want to distract me. But the fact is, I really need to find my mate.

She'd help me lead. As an Alpha, I needed a Luna to be by my side when I took over as Alpha, after my father stepped down.

"We need a Luna, and that she-wolf you're sleeping with now is not Luna material," my wolf half growls in my head. "Oh shut up. I'm not sleeping with her in wolf form am I?," I retort in my head. "Very true, and it's best that you keep me out of it. After all, I'm the one with teeth and claws." he warns. I block the connection with him, even though I consider him right.

When I reached a secluded spot in the woods, I began to strip. Instantly, my wolf took over, as I knew he would. The shift didn't take long and in a few seconds a gray and black wolf stood where my human self once did. Glad to be on four legs, I run.

I stayed in wolf form for a while. When I returned to the pack house, it was close to 11pm. Sneaking into my window on the second floor, I was met by my brother. "Where have you been, Alec," he asks in a tight voice. I pin him with a cold stare. "I told you, I went for a run. Now that I have that established, what makes you think you can use that tone with me?" As I take a threatening step forward, I hear him gulp and he lowers his eyes in submission. "Know your place, brother," I warn and usher him out of my room. After I slammed the door, I went to my desk that was piled high with pack business.

"You can't put it off anymore, Alec. We need to find our mate. Soon," my wolf reminds me. That simple reminder has me sending all the papers on the desk flying to the floor. My wolf was right. I couldn't focus on pack business. I wasn't Alpha yet. I needed to focus on finding my mate. Soon...
