I had forgotten about how much fun it was to perform. Standing out in front of a very large crowd can really make you feel powerful. I live to terrorize people. And I have to admit, I've always loved terrorizing people. But I never wanted to hurt anyone. And if I were to actually hurt someone, it would only be a stage act, and be totally safe.
I walked into my dressing room to wash the makeup off of my face. As I cleaned my face, I noticed that there was a note stuck to one of the chairs.
"Where did this come from?" I picked it up to read it.
"Alice, I recently heard that you've been out of your prison for a while now. Well it's been, what, 3 days? I'd like to congratulate you, and hope you start making good choices with your life. You're obviously happy with everything, and seem to really start enjoying things again. I'm happy to see how you've changed. Good luck, and remember; remain calm, and think happy thoughts."
I folded the note and looked around the room. "How did this even get in here? My dressing room has been locked this entire time. There's no way anyone could've gotten in here..." Something didn't feel right.
"Is..... Is someone watching me...?" I thought for a moment. "How could someone be watching me? I haven't done anything wrong. Why am I so paranoid? I'm fine."
I poked my head out of my dressing room to see if anyone was around. The hallway was empty. I went back in my dressing room and closed the door behind me. "I don't know why I feel so worried about this. I am 100% okay."
I took some deep breaths, and starting thinking happy thoughts. This helped a little. I still felt a bit paranoid.
The ride back in the bus to the hotel was not as great as I thought it would've been. My band members don't act the same as they used to. I just sat at the table, staring out the window.
"Talk to him." I heard a voices behind me. Knowing my band members will try to cheer me up a bit, they all walk over to me to talk.
"So, Alice." Nita sat across from me. "How have you been?"
"Uhhh... Good, I guess. I bet you guys were bored out of your minds."
"You wouldn't believe some of the stuff we did while you were gone, boss," I listened to Tommy go on, and on about the stupid crap they did. It sounded fun. Stupid, but fun.
"Guys, I'm sorry if you're all freaked out about this. I have no idea what I was thinking. I just want people to stop looking at me differently. Which, probably won't happen..." Nita looked concerned. "Don't worry, Alice. We've totally got your back."
"Look, guys. I appreciate what you're all trying to do, but no one looks at me the same. I mean, I want people to be scared of me. But I don't want them to feel scared to be around me when I'm not in character. I just... I wish this never happened."
We all went silent. Chuck sat down next to Nita. "Alice, man. If you need anything... You know who to call."
I nodded, and they all stood up and left. I needed some alone time to think.
