Steven and I were stuck in the vents. It's either going through the vents and being caught, or walking through the lobby and being punished. I then had an idea.

"Steven. Do you have anything to cover the camera with?" He searched through his pockets and pulled out a napkin. "This is all I got, man. What about you?"

"I can't even be trusted with a paper clip. I got nothing." Steven laughed a bit. "Dang, dude. Anything is a weapon to you."

He slowly moved toward the camera. He spit on the napkin and slapped it on to the lends of the camera. "Let's go!"

We moved through the vents, trying to stay as quiet as possible. We then started to feel a breeze. "Uh oh." Steven paused. "What? What is it?"

He turned to look at me. "The air is on."

"Ok... Is that a bad thing?" He grabbed my shoulders. "Yes. It's a very bad thing. It's either gonna get super hot, or super cold in here."

The air felt warm. Great. We're about to get roasted. "I can't believe I'm saying this, but let's just go back." Steven didn't like the sound of this at all. "Are you insane? They're probably looking for both of us by now."

He was right. But it started to get extremely hot. "We should just keep going." I was desperate to get out of here, so I agreed.

The vents were boiling hot now. We were sweating so much that it was dripping off our faces. We continued until we were at a split off section. "Which way...?"

Go right.

"We should go right." Steven looked at me. "What makes you think we should go right?" I pushed him out of the way. "Just come on and follow me."

We stopped at a vent exit and Steven pried the vent open and we stepped out. We were at the back entrence. "God, Alice. Sorry for doubting you, man."

I walked over to the door and tried to pull it open. "Are you serious? We need a key?" I turned around and looked at Steven. He was looking at a sleeping guard with a key card. We made eye contact and knew what we had to do.

Steven walked in the office and made his way behind the desk. What are you doing? I mouthed out to him. He pointed at the cork board and there were 2 key cards just begging to be taken. He stood up and grabbed them and snuck back out.

We both ran over to the door, scanned the cards and the door opened. We both looked at each other and ran out.

"So, that was probably the scariest thing I've ever done." Steven wipes the sweat from his forehead with his shirt. "Yeah. I've never done anything like this."

"Well, it's been nice knowing you." He reached out his hand and we shook hands. We both walked out of the parking lot. "Wait."

He grabbed my hand and pulled me down. He covered my mouth with his hand as a whole mouth full of police officers enter the building. Steven looked at me and I looked at him. "Run."

We both got up and ran for our lives. My heart was racing and I was scared out of my mind. We stopped when he got to the fence. "Electric. What now?"

I looked over at the side of the building and saw an electric box. I ran over to it and smashed it open with a pipe I found on the ground. I switched it off and gave a thumbs up to Steven. We jumped over the fence and ran for it.

"We did it, man! We're out of that hell hole!" We jumped when the alarm came on.

Better run, boy.
