***ASHLEY'S POV***

The Stitching of the Veins.

What's that supposed to mean, anyway? Why do I keep having these dreams? What happens to us after the procedure? How did we get to that horrible, awful plaza in the first place? All of these thoughts are running through my mind at a million miles an hour, and I've got no idea what to do about it. I try to force my thoughts to slow down just enough so I can be rational, so I can figure out what to do about this. It takes me a few minutes, but then I remember who's in the next tent over and my rushed thoughts stop abruptly.

Seto.

I burst from my tent and rush over to Seto's. He's sleeping alone, so I won't have to worry about waking anyone up. Except for Seto, of course, but I don't think he'll mind.

You can't really knock on a tent, so I just call to him.

"Seto!" I whisper-scream.

"Huh?" Asks my confused sorcerer friend.

"Hey, can I come in?"

"Ashley?" He asks, still groggy.

"Yeah. Can I please come in now? This is important."

"Sure, no problem."

I pull the tent flap aside and enter the small shelter. Seto has some potions stacked in a row on the floor with a brewing stand next to them. A workbench, furnace, and a chest also fill the small space.

I settle in, folding my wings and wrapping my tail around my legs as I sit criss-crossed on the floor. Seto sits across from me, trying to get comfortable. Finally he adjusts himself so he's comfortable and begins to speak.

"What's up?" He asks me.

"Well.." I begin to trail off. Maybe this wasn't such a good idea.

"You can tell me, come on. What's wrong?"

"Well..." I say again, my hands twitching nervously as my claws sheath and unsheathe.

"I had another dream. I dreamed about this ceremony, we were all there except you. Ty was in a cage, and there were these people in weird hoods, one of them was torturing Ty, and there were these little booth things, and, and--"

Then I get overwhelmed and I break down. The thought of what happened to me and the team is just too much to handle. Seto is unsure what to do, so he puts him arm around me and rubs my back lightly until I calm down. When I do, I know I have to finish telling him. If I don't, something really serious could happen. I have to let him know. For the sake of our team. For Ty.

"The Stitching of the Veins," I say, my voice barley audible. I look over to Seto. His eyes fill with fear for a moment before he speaks.

"What did you say?" He asks me. Urgency is in his voice.

"The Stitching of the Veins," I say a bit louder. "What does it mean? I thought of it as soon as I woke up."

"Let me explain something to you," Seto says. "You have a gift. You can see futures in other realities. That means that when you dream you are actually being transported to another reality to see what will happen there. This gift is called the Fifth Sight, and there is only one other person I have known in my entire life to have it. That person is Archangel Daniel. The Fifth Sight was how he came up with the idea of the Endset Commands. This is really vital. Thank you for telling me."

"Well you never answered my question," I say. "What is the Stitching of the Veins?"

"The Stitching of the Veins was a ritual practiced by a cult back in Daniel's time. Er, my time, too, I guess. The very cult that opened up the Nether Portal and released the Nether mobs was the one to preform the Stitching of the Veins. If they are staging a comeback, it's going to take a lot to fight them."

"What happens, though? During the procedure?"

"The two major veins in a persons wrist are stitched. These veins hold the majority of a persons aura. The stitch reverses the aura, making it so a brave, good person like you or me would become an evil, self-centered person. The cult thinks evil, self-centered people are the best kind of followers."

"Who is the cult, though?"

"You've heard Jason's story, right?"

"Yeah." I remember his Wither-worshiping family and his past experiences in the Wither's body.

"That cult."

"Oh. Well, then, what do we do?"

"We'll need to get to Max faster than we needed to before. A lot faster. We can't go now, though. The mobs are out. We'll have to leave first thing at dawn."

"Okay. Seto?"

"Yeah?"

"I don't want to sleep. I hate the dreams. They're so vivid, so possible. It's like every time I dream it's a nightmare. I want it to stop."

"I wish I could do something for you," He says, "but I can't just turn something like this off."

"I know," I say hopelessly. "I was just saying."

And then I turn to look as Seto, and there's something in his eyes. Looking at him is oddly compelling, and I unconsciously lean forward, getting closer to him. Seto looks me up and down, but then leans in too.

Against my better judgement, it seems as though we're kissing.
