The Date

Maya's P.O.V.

Today I'm going on a date with Charlie. I'm nervous, very nervous. I get more nervous when I think of the fact that I haven't told Riley yet, even after she stepped back for me. But I can't think about that now; I have to get ready. Charlie and I are going to Topanga's.

Charlie: hey.

Maya: hi.

Charlie: you look really nice.

Maya: thanks.

*they sit down*

I'm not feeling so nervous right now. This is going great. But why does he look at his phone all the time? Who is he talking to? I don't want to look jealous or anything, so I don't ask.

We talk for a while, until, I hear the sound of a familiar voice behind me.

Riley: Maya?

Maya: Uh... Riley?

Riley: What are you doing? I thought you liked Lucas, remember?

Maya: Yeah, but-

Riley: You know what? Whatever.

*Riley leaves*

Maya: I'm sorry Charlie, I have to go talk to her.

Charlie: It's okay, go.

I stand up and walk outside. I can't see Riley. I'm going to her house to see if she's there. Looking for my phone in my purse to try to call her, I realize I left it at Topanga's. I need to go back. As I'm walking inside to our table, I notice that Charlie is not there. He must've gone to the bathroom or something. I see my phone and his on the table. I quickly grab mine and head out the door. I turn it on and see that I made a mistake. I took Charlie's phone instead of mine.

Charlie has a lot of notifications. Most of them have heart emojis and kiss emojis, and they're all from Sarah! I have to check to make sure it's not what I think it is.

~Conversation between Charlie and Sarah~

        S: heyy (kiss emoji)

      C: hey babe (heart emoji)

       S: we're going out today, right baby?

      C: of course, you know you are really special. At Topanga's, okay?

       S: ok, love you (heart eyes emoji)

      C: (heart emoji) you more.

He's cheating on me?!?! How could he do such thing? He said he liked me, and that I am special. It's the same thing he told Sarah. I'm going to talk to him, now.

(at Topanga's)

Charlie's sitting at the table with Sarah. I can't believe it.

Maya: Charlie?

Charlie: Maya, it's not what it looks like.

Maya: How could you do this to me?

Charlie: Maya, I'm-

Maya: I thought you were different.

I throw his phone at him, take mine, and burst out, slamming the door behind me.

Now I understand everything. That is why Sarah was talking to him at the end of the party. That is why he couldn't stop looking at his phone. Tears stream down my face. I'm walking very fast, not even knowing where I'm going. I feel like my world is falling apart. I lost my best friend, I've been cheated on, and I've probably lost Lucas too. Eventually, I'll lose everybody. I hate this.

As I'm crying and walking quickly, I bump into someone. It's Lucas.
