Goddess?

I stood there as people kneeled in my honor. There was NO way that I could be a Goddess. I was only fifteen. I mean, it did sound like the only explanation. I never knew my parents. I was moved around from foster house to foster house my whole life, if I didn't run away before hand. I had this freaky and unheard of power. But I couldn't believe it. Before anyone could say anything I ran to the mansion. I grabbed my bags from the floor where I dumped them when I was teleported or whatever there, and I ran. I ran straight for the forest. I never wanted to be a child of the gods. All I ever wanted was a home to feel safe and secure.

As I made my way to the gate I looked back at the camp. Everyone was running around trying to look for me. All those kids I didn't even know were looking for me? Then it hit me. It was the only place I have ever been truly accepted and loved without consequence. I sighed and started walking back to the camp. I walked over to the bonfire and the kids running around stopped and looked to me. I released my grip on my bags and fell to my knees sobbing. Hazel, Piper, Annabeth, and Georgia all came running to me.

All the while I was crying and muttering "What's happening? Why... I can't be... WHAT DO I DO NOW?" I cried and cried. I had no idea how long I was there for. Eventually, I felt someone lifting me up and taking me to a cabin. It was Leo. Little, tiny Leo was helping ME out. When we entered the cabin I opened my eyes a little bit. It was the Hades cabin. He set me down on an empty bunk.

He said to me quietly "Hazel said you could stay here with her for as long as you would like. Okay?" I gave him a little nod. Before the doors closed I whispered his name.

"Thanks, Leo." I said, feeling all warm and happy inside, even though the cabin was kind of cold. I drifted off to sleep and had a very interesting conversation.

"My dear?" said a woman whom I instantly recognized.

I was sleeping in a bed of darkness and didn't bother turning around to face her. "Goddess Athena. What more do you have to do than, oh, make a NEW GODDESS! WHAT THE HADES". I sat straight up to face her. Standing beside the goddess was a short, kind of ugly god. "OH, HEY DAD! I don't suppose either of you are here to apologize?"

Athena shook her head sadly. And what was that I saw in her face? Just a little hint of guilt? At least I was getting somewhere in yelling.

"Daughter-" started Hephaestus, but I cut him off. I was overflowing with emotion from the past FIFTEEN years of my life that I had no one to share with.

"Oh no. Oh no no no." I started calmly. "I am AMELIA." I said slowly " I am not your daughter, either of you. I grew up with NO parents. All I had were my friends who blew away like dust in the wind! Where WERE YOU TWO!" That got their attention. They looked at me with shock blanketing their faces.

Athena grew mad "YOU, LITTLE CHILD! I HAVE LIVED FOR THOUSANDS OF YEARS. YOU CANNOT SPEAK TO ME THAT WAY, I AM A GODDESS." she started to walk to me, but I put my hand out. She stopped dead in her tracks. There was metal in her belt and shoes and jewelry.

"SO AM I!" I yelled "You two could have done SOMETHING. ANYTHING. Even letting me grow up in a nice, normal family. Not bouncing around the homes of drunks, druggies, or smokers looking for money!"

Hephaestus slammed his foot on the ground "None of us wanted this, child! We didn't mean for this to happen! It was an accident!" By the look on his face he immediately realized he had chosen the wrong word.

"I was an ACCIDENT! I WAS UNWORTHY AND UNWANTED IN THE EYES OF THE GODS AS WELL AS MY PARENTS! Leave me and my dreams alone and let me be!" I released Athena from her state if immovability. They left my dreams and I slowly woke up.

Outside, the sun was slowly beginning to rise. Nico and Hazel still slept soundly. I quietly changed clothes and headed outside. I seemed to be the only one up, so I started to wonder the woods a bit. Suddenly, I hit a spot where something tugged at me. I held out my hand and a large, old shield rose up from the dirt.
