As Hermione walked back to the dorm with Lily, she was joyful, the dessert had already lightened her mood and Lily's. When she tiptoed up the stairs and into her room the first thing she saw was Ginny sat on her bed tediously. She set eyes on Hermione and smiled again and both went to bed shattered.
As Ginny swiftly turned she discovered Hermione was wide awake, attempting homework. She chuckled and remembered she also needed to complete homework but decided to leave it for tommorrow. As she began to daydream she realised she truly did miss home.
The real Hogwarts with all her friends, with Dumbledore knowing her well, with her favourite teachers and classes and not being puzzled by the work. She was extremely terrified, terrified that they wouldn't find a way back or it would take time; she'd spend Christmas without her family, without the Burrow.
She wondered if she'd be trapped here where she's a complete stranger, and where she has to make sure it stays like that too, where she has to be cautious what she tells people. She imagined if she lived the same events again: breaking news, You-Know-Who has come back to power; reading the date, knowing it's the day Harry's parents die...
She vastly shook her head, she knew she was exaggerating, thinking the worst or even impossible. Dumbledore is a great wizard, he'll figure out how to get back. Maybe he's inspecting the necklaces seeing if they've got a reverse spell or button too. Or maybe he's tracking down another time turner.
Surely Dumbledore is trying completely everything to send them back, even though he doesn't know it, they aren't ordinary students, they've changed life so much: defeated You-Know-Who, saved Sirius. Well she knows surely that Hermione is critical in the present time and the future as Harry and Ron can't fight different challenges every year without the missing member.
Ginny then wondered what present Hogwarts would be doing right now, would present Dumbledore have told her family who'd be worried sick where she is. Would Ron care? Surely him and Harry would be investigating it, but always at the back of their heads thinking it was to do with You-Know-Who.
Would students of Hogwarts think there's another monster or that You-Know-Who had come back and wanted revenge on Ginny for the chamber incident? Maybe they'd already discovered the truth, maybe they'd checked in Hogsmeade and talked to everyone there.
Zonko would have mentioned the necklaces and if Harry was there, the article would definitely click in his mind. Ginny wished so badly that this had happened, as if they know the problem (they've travelled time) it would be easier to figure out the solution.
Ginny then realised that a single tear was strolling down her cheek, after she wiped it off she peacefully went to sleep; not knowing what tomorrow would bring but hoping it would be a happy thing.
