"What if I don't want to?"

Okay recap of last chapter. Maya and Josh on a date. Maya goes to bathroom. Lucas appears, they kissed. And Lucas admits a secret!! 😱 That's a lot. Also I forgot to fangirl over Lucaya kiss ASDFGHJKL

~Maya~

My life is so confusing. Lucas kissed me. And I didn't hate it. But now what happens?

"Maya you okay?" Josh asked. I looked up at him and smiled. "I'm fine Josh." I told him. Josh looked at me. "Are you sure?" He asked. I nodded. "Of course I am." I reassured him. He smiled and nodded. We continued watching tv. After a while my thoughts drifted back to Lucas. What did I even want from him?

"Um Josh I just remembered I promised I'd go to my friends house." I said. Josh looked at me and shrugged. "Okay, I'll see you tomorrow." He told me giving me a kiss on the cheek. I grabbed my car keys and headed over to a person I trust.

I knocked on the door shivering a bit. Farkle opened the door and stared at me. "I need to talk to you." I told him inviting myself in. Farkle followed me to the kitchen. "Okay why are we in the kitchen?" He asked. I grabbed an apple bit into it. "I sometimes stress eat." I replied. Farkle just shook his head. "Okay what happened?" He asked.

"Lucas sorta um he kinda uh he-" I started. "Just say it Maya!" Farkle cut me off. I glared at him. "Okay! Lucaskindakissedmeonmydatewithjosh." I rushed out. Farkle's eyes widen. "He what!" He yelled. I looked down. "Don't make me say it again Farkle." I told him. Farkle nodded. "Okay he kissed you. But why?" He asked. I shrugged.

  "I don't know why. I feel guilty. I mean I didn't hate that he kissed me..." I trailed off. Farkle walked over and hopped on the counter. "Well you obviously still like him. It's just a whole big mess of feelings now." Farkle said.

"You aren't mad at me?" I asked nervously. He shook his head. "Of course not. Disappointed yes. But I can't get mad at you. And Lucas chose to kiss you. I'm just hoping he knows what he's doing." Farkle explained.

I smiled at Farkle. "This is why we're best friends." I said while hugging him. We pulled back and sat in a comfortable silence.

"Are you ever going to tell Riley?" He asked softly. I let out a heavy breath. "I have to. It's the right thing. I just don't know how." I admitted. Farkle smiled. "Whenever you do just know I'll be there for you." He told me. I smiled at him. "Thank you Farkle." I told him.

We heard footsteps and turned towards the entrance. "Farkle I need to talk to you about somethi-" Lucas stopped talking when he saw us. "Oh boy..." He muttered. I looked away. "You know what I'm gonna go anywhere but here." Farkle said walking upstairs. I rolled my eyes.

"Maya, I know I shouldn't of kissed you but I couldn't help it. I can't lie to you anymore. I can't keep pretending I don't have feelings for you." Lucas told me. I felt speechless. My heart raced faster than ever before.

   "Lucas you know I can't do that. I can't hurt Riley more. I just can't. I came back to restore all my friendships. Not destroy them. And yes. I have feelings for you. But I can never act on them again." I explained. I knew this was going to be hard. But I care about Riley. And I can't keep hurting her.

"But what about us? Don't you even think about it?" He asked. I looked at him. "Of course I think about it! It reminds me I betrayed my best friend. It reminds me of my mistakes." I exclaimed. Lucas's face fell.

"We were a mistake?" He questioned. I instantly regretted that word choice. I shook my head. "The mistake wasn't you or us. It was the way we handled it. The way we thought of going behind Riley's back rather than come out about it." I said. "But Lucas I need you to forget your feelings for me." I finished.

"What if I don't want to?" He asked. I sighed softly. "Than you better start forgetting." I told him. Lucas stood up and looked me in the eyes. "Maya, I love you. I can't change it or would I ever. But you want nothing to do with it so I'll respect that. I'll leave you alone. Goodbye." Lucas said tipping his imaginary hat. I nodded as he walked out.

"Farkle you can come out now." I called out. Farkle peeked his head around the corner. "Maya I'm sorry." He said. I shook my head. "Don't be. I-I did the right thing." I told him. I wiped at the tear that escaped. "I'm proud of you." He said. I nodded. "I know." I replied hugging him.

That was emotional. But it had to happen. So this included lots of Markle. Don't worry Lucaya will come back but right now it'll take back seat.
