Chapter 13
"Remember when we were 8 and our parents took us to the beach-" Ryder began.
"Oh my God! Please don't remind me!" I exclaimed.
Currently we were in the cafe taking a break from skiing/snowboarding all day. We had been here for about half-an-hour talking about memories from when we were little. It was basically more talking, less actually eating and drinking. But, it was still nice and relaxing.
With a chuckle Ryder said "Ok, fine, I'll let it go..." Good. "For now." Dang it!
"Ughhh" I exclaimed "Anyways, let's go. We only have a few more days left and I want to make the most of it. I don't want to remember it with us fighting."
"Agreed. Let's head out." Completely disregarding our barely touched food, we went to continue our last few days of fun in the snow.
The Jacobs and my family had come once before, but that was when I was 3 and Lia, Chloe and Jake weren't born and I was too young to ski. I honestly don't know what our parents were thinking, bringing 3 year olds who could do nothing to a ski resort, but they did.
Now that I think about it, our parents took us many places when we were younger. Whether we were 3 or 15 but they did. Once Ryder and I separated we hadn't gone to many places but the beach and those were only for a day at most.
"Earth to Ava! Hello?" Someone called "ugh! Still in your own little world I see. Somethings never change."
"Hey!" I glared at Ryder "That's not always a bad thing."
"Really? Like when?"
"Like when you go on and on about pointless sh¡t I can just block you out and pretend to be listening. See, it comes in handy!"
"Well now look who's being mean!"
"Whatever. Let's go" And we skied and snowboarded until we were even more sore than before. We didn't even know it was possible but we did it.
"So, honey, are you enjoying your little break?" My mother questioned.
It was dinner time and my parents surprised everyone by taking us to a super fancy restaurant just outside of the resort.
"Yes, yes I am. And you, mother?" It was a joke between my mother and I to speak extra formally. I don't know how it started but it was quite funny to see the other act so very sophisticated when everyone knew we weren't.
"I am doing great myself. Thank you for asking, sweet cheeks." With that we both burst out laughing, gaining weird looks from everyone around the table. They weren't in on the joke which made it much funnier.
"I will never understand how your relationship works." My dad muttered.
"Well, you see-" I began to explain before I was cut off
