"This place smells like grease," Frisk said looking around.
"I sure hope so," Sans chuckled." If it doesnt, it means something is wrong with the universe."
Not that there isn't anything wrong with it already, Sans thought bitterly.Papyrus, the tall skeleton, had made a huge show of how he planned to capture Frisk with dangerous puzzles or something. Sans waited for him to race off to prepare the puzzles, before taking Frisk through a shortcut to the place he called Grillby's.
"Have a seat kiddo," Sans said sitting at the bar. A moment too late Frisk realized there was something in their seat. Frisk jumped up in surprise.
"Ugh...sorry...sometimes weirdos put whoopie cushions on the seats," Sans chuckled.
"Yea...weirdos." Frisk scowled and moved it to the chair next to them before sitting down.
"Geez...you don't even act like you used to Frisk," Sans said turning to face forward.
"What do you mean? And why does everyone know my name?" Frisk demanded.
Sans sighed. "You've done all this before. You fell in the Underground and passed through the ruins...of course they didnt collapse....we've even had the whoopie cushion talk before. You freed us from the Underground."
Frisk rolled their eyes. "Yea right. How come that Papyrus guy doesn't remember me? And how come I don't remember all of this?"
Sans shrugged. "..its complicated. Someone else reset the world. Some remember the previous run through and some dont. It's corrupted since it wasn't you who reset it.You'll understand soon enough. But we don't have long enough for you to get your memory back. You need to learn how to defend yourself. There are monsters who would do a lot to get your soul."
"My soul?" Frisk asked.
"You know the story of the War between Monsters and Humans," Sans said.
Frisk nodded. "Everyone does. It's common sense...right?"
"I guess. Anyways, then you know monsters are trying to get human souls to break the barrier. I'll get Pap to give you some training. He wouldn't have the heart to capture you anyways." Sans sighed.
Suddenly Frisk saw something strange. What appeared to be a man made out of fire came walking in. He set down two plates in front of Sans and Frisk. Burgers. Something felt familiar about this..
"Hey kid, want some ketchup?" Sans asked.
"Nah," Frisk said.
"You don't like ketchup?" Sans asked with a laid back attitude.
"No..I just know that the cap isn't screwed on all the way, and when I tip it, it'll spill on my burger."
Frisk froze and Sans stiffened next to them.
After a moment, Sans chuckled. "...what else can you remember?"
