The Fall

Gally's POV

As I got into bed I thought over the events of this week. Starting with Kit. It seemed that my thoughts always veered to her. She was the most beautiful person I had ever seen I my whole life. I loved the way her brown hair cascaded down her shoulders. Gally listen to yourself; you sound like a love sick animal.

But it was true. For whatever reason Kit had grabbed my attention and I couldn't let go. Maybe it was her quiet strength, or the fact that she was brilliant. Maybe it was the way that she could calm me down in the blink of an eye. There was just something about her that I couldn't shake.

I was nervous for her to be a runner but overjoyed that she would be a builder with me.  I couldn't argue that girl had a set of legs on her. I mean she can run. I can't imagine working with her everyday though. It's like the Creators finally decided to bless me.

By this time I knew that there was no hope for sleep. I got out of my bed and threw on a flannel but was too lazy to button it up. I walked towards the deadheads to where I usually chop wood. I stopped when I heard voices.

"I just can't believe this!" It was Kit. But who was she with?

"I think this is the craziest thing that has ever happened to me." Newt. Freaking Newt of all people. I had suspected that Newt might have a thing for Kit, but I wasn't sure. Until now. I was furious and hurt all at the same time.

"When I got here I thought I recognized you Newt. I don't know how to explain it. And then I had that dream and I couldn't explain the feelings that I felt for you because I knew they weren't natural" Kit had feelings for Newt!

I couldn't stand it any longer. I burst through the tress ready to rip off Newt's head. Newt and Kit were sitting against a tree. Kit with her head on his shoulder. As I came into view Kit got a very scared look on her face. I crushed me but my anger overtook me.

I ran up to Newt picked him up by his shirt and pinned him against the tree. "You son of a --"

"Gally!!" Kit cut me off, "What are you doing let him go! You're hurting him."

"Who? Your boyfriend here? I can't believe you Kit! Can you not see that I am so much better for you!" And there I go again showing her my feelings. Kit had a shocked look on her face. But I couldn't stop. "Can't you not see how much I care for you?! But Newt here had to go and screw everything up." I pushed him harder into the tree and Kit let out a scream.

"Gally you're so thick!" Newt and Kit made eye contact before she dropped the bomb. "He's my brother."

I was speechless. Siblings? Oh my goodness I am such an idiot. I had just confessed to Kit all my feelings and pinned my best friend up against a tree. And for what? They are just siblings. I have never been more ashamed in my entire life.

"Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't know." I let go of Newt and walked off back to the homestead. I was so embarrassed and I bet Kit didn't even feel the same way.

Just then I heard footsteps coming up behind me.

"GALLY! Gally wait up!" I didn't stop but I didn't speed up either. "Gally we need to talk. What happened back there?"

"I'm sorry Kit I didn't realize he was your brother, I feel so stupid."

"That's not what I meant, you had no way to know that we were siblings. I meant the part about you caring for me?"

That's when I stopped. My feet felt like they were in sludge. Well it was now or never.

"Yes Kit. Oh my gosh yes. I care about you so much. I can't explain it. You make me feel like I'm floating on the clouds. Ok that was cheesy but you know what I mean."

"Yes, I know exactly what you mean... Because I feel the same way."

I was dumbfounded. I cannot believe that she feels that same way about me. I took her face in my hands and did what I have been wanting to do since she got here. 

I kissed her.
