Nothing could have prepared Jeremiah for what awaited him inside her room. Where there once was silence, there now were masses of nurses and doctors surrounding her on all sides, shouting and yelling things he couldn't comprehend such as code blue! And something about a crash cart. Through the panic and fear, he miraculously managed to stay upright as his knees threatened to buckle and hesitantly inched closer to her. Touching her hand, he was startled at how cold and lifeless it felt in his own warm hand.
As his hand gripped hers, a flashback played in his mind of the 18 year old girl he secretly loved. As his eyes once again focused on the girl, his eyes widened in amazement and his heartbeat thumped painfully in his chest as he realized this was her. This was Emma! Leaning closer to her, he pleaded, "Emma, Emmy, Don't leave me, don't leave. Just please come back to me. Please, Emmy stay with me, please come back. I'll do anything, just... Stay! I...I love you Emmy. I know I should have told you all this 6 years ago but I was scared. You had your whole life ahead of you and I didn't want to keep you from pursuing your dreams. I love you so much, I promise Emmy, if you come back to me, I will love you unconditionally and stand by your side always. Please Emmy, please....just...stay. As the tears rolled down his face, he squeezed her cold, lifeless hand and begged her to stay.
