With the sunlight peeking behind her eyelids, Emma rolled over in an attempt to shield the light. As her arm brushed against something solid her eyes popped open and panic rushed through her. Shooting out of bed, he glanced over and couldn't help the fast beating of her heart that ensued as she laid eyes on him. Jeremiah Tidwell. The love of her life. Her crush. He was the one. The one that was by her side, soothing her when she had a nightmare. After getting dressed, she slowly approached the bed, shocked to realize he was wide awake. Getting off the bed, he turned towards her. "What... what do you want from me Jeremiah? " she asked softly. His hand stroked her cheek as he whispered in her ear. "You, your what I want Emmy". Unable to comprehend and believing she heard wrong, she asked again. " No, really, what do you want from me Jeremiah? " again his answer was the same. "I want you Emmy, now and forever. " As he moved closer to her, he got down on one knee and withdrew a small black velvet box from his pocket. "Emmy I loved you from the moment I first laid eyes on you. I'm sorry that I was so stupid and left you all those years ago, but I promise to love you everyday and keep you happy. I promise to cherish you and protect you to the best of my ability, till the end of my days. I promise to do anything to keep a smile on your face and keep you happy. I promise to build you up and comfort you in the hard times. I promise to fiercely love you everyday and to always keep you in the comfort of my heart. I want you to be the first thing I see in the morning and the last thing I see at night. So Emmy , will you do me the honor of marrying me?" As the tears rolled down her face, she heard herself say yes. As he gathered her close and twirled her around, Emma couldn't prevent the smile that spread across her face. Finally, after years of loneliness, he was here. As her heart thumped painfully in her chest, an overwhelming feeling of peace spread through her. Never again would she be alone.
