It was 3 a.m. when Emma was woken by a sharp pain in her stomach. Thinking it was just caused by something she ate, Emma scooted closer to the edge of the bed as she took some calming breaths, hoping to relieve the pain. When the pain continued, she decided to walk around hoping that would help. As she attempted to stand up, another pain ripped through her stomach, doubling her over and stealing her breath. All of a sudden, she heard a pop and looking down, noticed her water just broke. Knowing now it was time for her baby to be born, she attempted to wake Jeremiah up and tell him it was time to go.
"Jeremiah wake up! Come on, we have to go! The Baby's coming!! As the words registered in Jeremiahs' sleep riddled mind, panic set in , making him jump out of bed. Within seconds he was dressed and ready to go, with the hospital bag hanging precariously off his arm. "Ok babe, ready to go?" he asked, glancing at his wife who now was bent double over the side of the bed. He slowly approached her as she huddled over the side of the bed breathing through yet another contraction. As he helped her up and out the door, he instructed her to breath through the pain, like they were taught in class. As the contraction eased, Emma glanced at her husband, with a smile on her face as she realized they soon would be parents. After loading her up in the car and buckling her seatbeat for her, Jeremiah jumped in the driver seat and drove off to the nearest hospital.
