Éclair

The train ride back up the mountains was the most dull and antagonizing ride I think I've ever taken. I sat there with my arms crossed on the windowsill of the window, my gazed fixed upon the distance. The three of us sat in silence the entire time. No one dared to speak a word. The train car was empty except for the three of us. No one wanted to return to the mountains, and I don't blame them. Even I didn't want to return to the mountains.

Soon enough, however, we arrived at the station up in Freemont. I go to reach for my suitcase, just like old times, but then I remembered: I didn't pack anything because I wasn't planning on staying long. After a elongated sigh, I stand up as the three of us head to Trevor's place. There was only one thing on my mind, the sooner we get this done, the sooner we could get back home. People were waiting for us at home; my daughter, my sister-in-law, my whole family. I didn't want to leave my child behind in this chaos. I didn't want to leave any innocent soul left defenseless in this mess. I only hoped she would stay safe when I wasn't there to directly protect her.

I also didn't like going back "home" per say. Every time I go back there I usually end up in a huge fight with someone or something. Not that many people like me there. There's Zanner, more of the townsfolk...Zanner...did I mention Zanner?

And whoever else made their way up there looking looking for me to get 'payback' from my awesomeness or something.

"Well, we're here." I finally stated, breaking the silence of eternity between the three of us. We just stood there in front of Trevor's shop.

"Let's finish this." Ed said bluntly, ". He didn't wanna be here either. So much for our family. We decided to walk to Trevor's place to stop there first. I opened the back door to the shop and let myself in without any regrets for using the back door. Trevor's father was sitting behind the counter reading the newspaper. He was there to greet us. It was almost as if he was expecting us.

"Hello my daughter Éclair, Edward, Alphonse," He always called me his daughter because he practically was my father when I was younger...I guess some things never do change. And he refused to call me any nickname since he still believe Éclair was my given name and I should honor it.

"Hey there," I yawned to myself,  "do you mind if we rest here for a while? I mean, there's really nowhere else for us to go right now...sorry this is all unexpected..." I dropped my bags and tossed myself up on the counter in front of where Trevor's father was sitting. I sat in the same spot I always used to sit. Just like old times...

He shook his head, "Not at all, we were expecting you'd drop by sooner or later. You always come by unexpected. Trevor! We have visitors!"

Trevor came down from the second floor, "Coming!" He practically ran down the stairs.  I guess he was lonely. "Éclair! Edward! Alphonse!" He exclaimed. He nearly tripped down the last step as he skipped it, jumping to his feet sooner.

"Hey, how are you?" I asked as I jumped down from the counter to hug him.

Trevor laughed, "I'm great. Never been better. What about you? Where's Ayumi and the baby?"

"Actually..." I bit my lip as I felt my voice fade. I even paused for a moment. "We're here on military duty. It's about..."

"The invaders. They've came through here. But it's going to be hard convincing the people here to leave, if that's what you're after...it's probably dangerous here...isn't that right? You have that look on your face again." Trevor put his hands on my shoulder as he shook his head, "You're my best friend, don't ever forget that. I know things about you that even you don't want to admit."

I ran my right hand up and down my left arm with a bit of a nervous and ashamed face, "I know, I know. But yeah...I have to get them to leave. This place is becoming a battlefield, honestly. Or that's what I assume. I don't know that much else yet. Haven't seen or talked to anyone as of late. I kinda was left out of everything since they value 'my protection' and whatever else."
