Eclair's POV

"What?!" Ed and Al shouted together. I just let it go right by me. I kinda knew that.

"Why?! You'll never be home! You never know where you'll be!" Al shouted. I just shook my head. I knew she was hiding something from our previous disscussion.

"If that's what the girl wants, let her have her way" I shout from the kitchen, as I raid the fridge for anything edible.

"I want to join the millitary"

"If it's alchemy then..."Ed walked out of the house. I knew where he was going.

"But why?! There's gotta be a reason!"

I left the house also, because I didn't wanna see how that was gonna end.

I followed Ed to the place where he was, the hill with the ruins of the house he lived in where he was younger. He always went there to think. So did I.

"She won't be able to do it" Ed spoke. He knew I'd followed him because I didn't wanna be in that conversation either.

"Do what?"

"Shoot someone. Use a gun. She won't be able to kill anyone to protect herself. She's not loyal to her country."

"Remember, Ed. We're supposed to serve the country, and the people. But do we give a craap about what the country, government, or even people do? No."

"But you know she can't shoot"

"Yeah. I guess you're right. But not all jobs are like that. Look at Sheaska. She works internally with records."

"But you know that's not what she wants"

"I know. But you never know" I put my arms around Ed, holding him. "Besides. What are you worried about? She knows her limits"

"Alphonse." Ed says. I feel a warm teardrop fall on my arm. He was worried about his brother, and his well-being. No matter what, Al was still his little brother.

I let Ed be. I gave him space, while still keeping by him. His soft side usually led to trouble. And if he didn't get out of it quick enough it usually resulted in him getting hurt.

"Ed..." I say as the wind takes my voice away. I finally come up with an idea. I quickly go find one of the people who live around here and ask them for a favor.

They were just tending to their animals by the side of the dirt path that could be concidered a road. I noticed there was a fence nearby and I sat atop it before asking my question, "Hey, can you help me with somethin' quick?"

The father and his son both looked at me with odd glares before the father responded in disbelief, "You? Help? This is odd."

I shrug, "Actually, it's simple. I need you to go up to Ed and call him short."

"What's this for?" He already knew the results, I mean, anyone who's seen Ed knows about his ranting, as well as mine.

"Getting him out of his funk. Now could you please help?" I try to get their sympathy by giving a long sorrowful face.

It was easy after that. The man did his job and got Ed all mad again, into a rant, back to his normal self. The thing was, this was kinda the only way to break ourselves out of our soft sides.

"Come on, Ed, let's head back"
