She was just so beautiful. He couldn't believe his good fortune, having Laura in his life. Tobias shared a friendship with Laura for eight years. They knew everything about each other and shared everything with each other. The past while, Tobias felt very grateful for their friendship, but kind of hoped for something a little more.

Sometimes he just wanted to hold her hand. Not in a casual, friendly, or leading way, but in a boyfriend-girlfriend kind of way. Tobias could never tell her how much he liked her, though. If she didn't feel the same way it would ruin everything. Feelings about each other would change and things would never be easy going again.

Tobias only wished he could read minds, or at least body language. He wanted to pick up vibes from her to see how she really felt about him, if she felt like him. He assumed not, because she never talked about guys, having a real interest in them.

Laura never really talked about people at all, besides her family. He supposed it was because she didn't have much interaction with people anyways. He didn't either. But that's what made his and Laura's relationship so special. Other than their family, they had no one except for each other. They depended on each other, but it wasn't a forceful feeling dependency. They both enjoyed it.

Oh! Thought Tobias. I think I have an idea. I can subtly see how she feels about dating.

"So," Tobias began, "you allowed to start dating now? My parents told me I couldn't until I turned sixteen."

"I guess," said Laura. She sat up. "My parents never really gave me a time frame on when I could and couldn't date, though. Maybe they didn't think I'd be around long enough."

"I'm sure that's not it," said Tobias. "Who knows...despite our cancerous death sentence, we might just make it out! With God anything is possible."

"That's true. I always believed I'd meet the guy God had for me before I died. I'm certain He still has someone for me," said Laura.

"Do you think you've met him?" Asked Tobias, testing the waters.

"I don't think so. My guy has deep green-blue eyes. His composure is sharp and he is dark featured. He loves God more than anyone in the whole world, even me," she said. "And I don't think I've met anyone like that yet."

"Why are you so stringent on his physical features? Maybe you'll miss out on the guy God really intending for you looking for such a specific guy," said Tobias, subtly hinted at the fact that God may have intending him for her.

"No, because I prayed that God would give me the love of my life, and that night I had a dream that I met a guy who met that description and he embraced me in the warmest hug I've ever felt," explained Laura.

"That was just a dream," shrugged Tobias. "Maybe your preferences and senses were maximized to fulfill your desire."

"Jeez, Tob! The dream meant something, I know it. And if I have to wait forever for that guy, I will!" Confirmed Laura. She wasn't budging.

"Alright, alright," Tobias surrendered. He was friend zoned, once again. Not a horrible thing, but he hoped things would turn around.

God, please give me this woman, in a romantic way, he faithfully prayed.
