"What's going on?" Asked Aubrey to her daughter who recently passed out. "Are you okay? Why aren't you talking."
"God talked to me," whispered Laura quietly, absorbing even her own words, shocked at what happened.
Aubrey was concerned. "Honey, it's not good if you're having hallucinations like this. I'm going to schedule an appointment with the Doctor."
"No." Laura was stern. "God spoke to me. Nothing has ever been more real to me in my entire life."
"Hallucinations can be pretty realistic. I'm sure your sickness doesn't help either. I'm calling the doctor," said Aubrey not believing her daughter.
"Mom, I swear. This really happened," insisted Laura, not even considering the possibility of hallucinating.
Aubrey gave Laura an I don't buy it and you shouldn't either look and picked up her phone and the phone book to contact her doctor.
"Hi Quiana!" Greeted Aubrey to Laura's nurse.
"Hello! How's Laura?" Asked Quiana.
"Well," began Aubrey, "I think Laura is having hallucinations. She passed out and told me that God spoke to her after she woke up again."
Quiana spoke again, but in a voice that didn't sound like hers. It sounded almost angelic. "God really did."
"What?" Asked Aubrey, shocked to hear her say that. Nurses aren't supposed to tell her about God.
"Maybe you should talk to a pastor. I mean, I can schedule an appointment, but I'm sure it wasn't a hallucination," said Quiana.
"Quiana?" Questioned Aubrey. "Um, I think I'll just come into tomorrow afternoon. I hope that time works for you..."
"Sure. But consider my words. Have a blessed day," said Quiana as she hung up the phone.
Aubrey was confused. She was confused with her daughter's thought, confused with Quiana's logic, and confused with her own heart. What did she believe? She never believed there could be a God. Not after her rough childhood. Not after the news of hearing her beloved daughter had a murderous disease. Not after becoming a divorced woman. No, she didn't have time for God. She had enough time on her hands as it is.
Aubrey shook it off and spoke again to her daughter.
"Laura, what exactly did you see?" Asked Aubrey.
"I never saw anything," explained Laura. "I only heard."
"Okay," said Aubrey, "what then, did you hear?"
Laura closed her eyes, trying to again feel her experience. "A sense of peace washed over me as a soothing, soft, deep voice spoke to me. 'It is I, the Great I Am,' He said. 'I've come to you now to give you some insight. Listen closely, and tell others who are close to you. Soon, I am going to take you home. While you are still on earth, I want you to spread My word and leave your mark. Mostly, spread My love to your mother. I love her.'" Laura opened her eyes again. "And that is all He told me until I woke up."
Aubrey felt her heart burst. Something told her that what Laura told her was real, despite her instinct to run, run far from God. She was speechless. "I have an appointment for you tomorrow afternoon."
