Kyra's Pov
Halfway through the project, I got a call. From...Blake?
That's weird. I mean, I have been ignoring his texts lately, so it'd be rude if I declined his call.
"I gotta take this, sorry"
I walked outside and hit "Answer"
"WHERE THE HELL ARE YOU AND WHY ARENT YOU ANSWERING MY TEXTS?"
Blake screams through the phone."Chill. Gosh. Why do you wanna know where I am?"
He takes a breath. "I'm at your house right now. In your driveway."
"Uh...why? We didn't have anything planned today."
"I just wanted to take about everything last night. We were all gonna go hoverboard around the town and get food, but the rest didn't answer, so I thought we could go."
I felt so bad right now. I wanted to stay with Weston, but I already ignored blakes messages and was a bit rough on him last night. "I'm sorry Blake. I'm busy right now. Maybe another time..?"
"Of course. Have fun doing whatever, probably banging a guy right now." And he hung up.
He was so confusing. I'm not even this confused when it's that time of the month. Like one moment he's all nice and friendly and then he's flirty and then he's mad. Ugh, boys. I walked back inside to Weston.
"Everything good? You look a little stressed."
"Yeah I'm fine. And that's like the 3rd time you asked me if I'm okay. Can we stop worrying and finish our project?" I say, fake laughing a bit. I just couldn't figure out what was wrong with Blake.
//
*high five*
"YAY! We finished! And it doesn't even look half bad!" We did a poster and a slideshow presentation, and we took a long time to practice, including getting distracted by tweets and all sorts of social media notifications.
It was now about 7:30, and I needed to go home. I took my dress and all my other stuff that I left here, and Weston walked me out.
"Thank you for everything. We literally just met, but I'm glad we did. I need to pay you back somehow, Weston."
"It's no biggie, I uh, had a nice, day-I mean time, too." He stuttered, like usual, Blushing too.
And I hugged him. And it was more weird this time. Last time was just a thank you, and this one was actually sincere. I don't feel anything, right?
We pulled away, laughing off our stupidity, and I drove home.
//
"Hey sista! Did you have fun at that guys house?" My sister Nichole winked and nudged. I rolled my eyes and told her that nothing happened, and it was just for a project. Of course, they didn't believe that.
"Where's mom and dad?"
"Out on a business trip for a bit."
Of course. They're usually never home. Mom cooks for as many days as they're gone, and put it in the fridge for us to heat up and eat ourselves. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad they cook, but I wish they were home more. I walked up to my room to set everything down and get used to my bed. Time to check all my ignored messages from Blake.
Blake: Uh the squad and I are planning to go around town on our boards. Coming?
Blake: Are you busy?
Blake:Hello? Kyra?
Blake:Okay I'm calling you.Wow. Nothing even important. *bing* And another text. Wonder if it's from Bla-It's Weston?
Weston: hi. i had a nice time with you. not like that but like uh. sorry I'm awkward.
And it's like he pushed my laugh button again. I didn't think it was possible to be awkward through texts.
Me: haha it's fine, I am too. I had a great time too :)
//Monday at school//
I arrived a bit early, just enough to try and see if the other girls are here, and introduce them to Weston maybe. And Kathy is here, With her beloved Mark. Except they were mad at eachother, again.
"I'm mad at Mark."
"Yep I can tell."
"He didn't want to come over and watch Netflix with me and he made a huge argument over it. He even went to another girls house that day."
"IT WAS MY COUSIN" Mark said in the background.
The reasons they fight make me laugh all the time. Honestly I wish I'll never have a relationship like that. I saw Weston across from our lockers and I wanted to tell Kathy about him.
"Hey Weston!" I said, waving. There were people looking at me like I was crazy, but I didn't care.
But the thing is, He just grabbed his books and ran off. What's up with him? I hope I didn't do anything.
"What the heck were you doing? That's a nerd! You don't talk to them! WE don't talk to them!" Kathy whisper-yelled at me.
"So what? He's not a bad person." I shrugged. Still looking at him walk away.
"Do you like him or something?!? We're the ones that just take advantage of them"
Kathy rambled and rambled about how we're popular and how he's a loser nerd and this society ranking system is literally so stupid.
Audrey and Jacob then walked in hand-in-hand talking about the party and other mushy coupley name calling which almost made me puke.
But then, the person I really did not want to see, just walked in.
