"Never forget the nine most important words of any family- I love you. You are beautiful. Please forgive me." - H. Jackson Brown Jr.Chapter 8 - A Gentleman
Edward's POV:
The ringing in my ears from Addyson's squeals will take a little while for me to recover. "When you said you would meet us at the plane, I thought you meant when we land not when we take off. How did you swing the day off?"
Mason gives his sister a quick hug, and takes Chandler's hand and leads us to his grandfather's plane. "Chandler needs to be briefed before her interview with Grandfather. He's a stickler for formality, and since Chandler was my pick, then I have to prepare her." Everything about that man is formal, even what he expects Mason to call him. His is to be referred to as Mr. Cahill or Grandfather, that's it. He's a far cry from Emily's dad, his other grandfather; he is a very nice approachable man.
"Niiiice," I say as we board the Falcon. "So, this is how the other half live." I tease.
"This is how Grandfather lives. This," he stresses the word grandfather as motions to the luxury inside the plane. "is not me." Mason has always been a very grounded person. Most people would have let their grandfather's wealth get to them, but Mason didn't and still doesn't. His grandfather is a piece of work, though. He is the epidome of stuffy, old, autocratic money.
I shiver, "We're not going to be seeing him, are we?" Addyson's eyes mimic flashes panic for a moment, but eases as soon as Mason shakes his head.
As soon as we are airborne, I make my way to Addyson's side. "You promised." She says without a hint of humor.
"I'll keep my word. I won't bother you. I just thought we could talk since they have their heads together already." I look up and Chandler and Mason are going over some paperwork.
"What do you want to talk about?" She just opened up a whole world of possibilities...can I kiss you, can I touch you, can I make you want me?
"So, you and Joel - "
"No go subject, next."
"You cut me off." I try again. "So, you and Joel, does he fight with you every time you have a nightmare?" I see her tense like this will be a 'no go' also, but then she relaxes.
"No, only when it's bad. Usually if I cry or I fight too hard then we end up in the gym the next day. Small ones we just ignore."
"Helen and I watched you guys for a while. You don't take his crap do you?"
"I'm not supposed to, he's there for me to try and defeat. He shows no mercy, and neither do I."
"And your cool down?"
"Is a reminder that I'm not weak."
"That is a true statement. How was your sleep last night?" She turns a nice shade of pink, and I bite back a smile.
"Fine, how was yours?"
"Mine was dreamy, because I was exactly where I wanted to be. Horizontal with you." I smirk at her to see her react.
"Why do you do that? We're having a perfectly fine conversation and you turn in to a pervert. No thank you. You can go away now."
"I was just teasing. I didn't mean to offend you or anything." I huff at her.
"I would believe you if you used a different tone, but now you're just being an ass." She's right I am being an ass. We sit together in silence. She pulls out a book, and I grab my ipad. For more than an hour no words were spoken.
